I am full of praises of this machine.

Mine is an 1987 but looks like a 2007. Apart from normal service,I go to the garage like twice a year mainly to replace tie rods, ball joints etc. Service costs are kawaida i.e spark plugs, oil, air filter & fuel filter 20K kms etc.

The only drawback is that the 200E is not full EFI so it does something like 8 - 10 kms per liter. If you got a E200 124,youd get the above benefits plus 14plus kms per ltr.

Merc saloons or wagons are luxury cars. When you want luxury, why go for pre-owned luxury?

You should not worry about 'simple' things like fuel when you wanna drive an Merc, chrysler or a hammer.

I for many times have thought that a car is just that; four 'openable' walls,a roof and a set of wheels. Beyond that is luxury na kama unataka luxury, why go for second hand luxury?. Enda DT Dobie and get a demo! They will give you all info on fuel, maintenance e.t.c

Just my unsolicited opinion though!

the 124 series is good on fuel; About 8litres for 100km na ukipewa lift huko nyuma, when the driver accelerates, the feeling you get is similar to that when KQ's B 777 is racing the smooth runway at Schipol. Kawaida maintenance will cost about 8,000 but for major service i.e tie rod ends, bushes, shocks, ball joints e.t.c,prepare to spend. PS You can get your service cheaper somewhere off Jogoo road but that's exactly my point. Why park your mercedes next to my 'sandak' or a 1988 Nissan matatu in a messy yard in the name of servicing?

But it's a great car!

Oh,I forgot something else. When you go to the club of your choice, there is always that parking just at the entrance which normally has a 'Reserved' kibao. If you have an ok looking Merc just go straight to that parking and flash your lights. The kibao is always removed for you.

Funny,has anybody witnessed the same?
