@eldersensei...

Why have you revived this thread nearly 1 year down the line? Has there been some news that we're unaware of?

Or maybe the share price has become too expensive for him.. and he is trying to pull a "a nation on kenolkobil" on it.. Hope it works, I'm dying to dive in some more..

Wouldn't a more likely route into voice for MTN be UUNET which they bought?

Kesh!, that fee was reduced to only 200.

i'm sayin that coz i heard both ksh200 and 1k. The 1k was by someone in the min of comm (the one for Bitange) or cck commissioner and was talking the same non-sense we've heard for fibre of recovering setup costs.

Safaricom now has to watch out for this MTN Business thing .I think its a good threat and once it goes full throttle into the voice segment and then combine the competition from bharti airtel ,YU and Orange it will be a big challenge for BOB.I foresee mergers and acquisitions in the future for this sector.

Denting SCOM dominance is a tall order for any provider, dethroning them is next to impossible just ask Zain. The price wars have not dented SCOM dominance and Zain has hardly gained an inch.

BBI will solve it

Am not sure if MTN have a license for voice. May be they should consider an acquisition, Essar and Orange come to mind.

Initial talk was that MTN was buying out YU.When did things change and UUNET got into the picture?All said, by the sheer size of MTN, i see them taking the no.2 slot after safaricom..a few year down the road.

@kaviaru; No 2 in which segment? Voice? They don;t have a license for that!
Nothing is real unless it can be named; nothing has value unless it can be sold; money is worthless unless you spend it.
