Good to see KQ expanding to Gatwick.

Too bad KQ sold some primo slots to Oman Air. Folks would fly from NBO to LHR overnight lakini now that is gone.

5. Selling of the London Heathrow Slot

Regarding the selling of London Heathrow slot in 2016, we would like to state as follows: The slot was sold to optimize the network by reducing aircraft ground time at Heathrow Airport. Slots at Heathrow have commercial value and hence KQ monetized the slot and negotiated for a better slot that allows KQ to land and take-off within the shortest ground time. We are currently flying 10 times weekly to London. A slot is an authorization to land and take off at a particular airport during a specified day and period. This was a purely business decision which was done through a transparent process.

Stories za jaba! Oman Air and KLM (I think) picked up the other slots!

Oman Air bought it at KES 7.3B. KQ now uses the KLM slot on common understanding terms, at a cost

"Common Understanding" means little if KLM wants/needs the slot or if KQ is no longer part of SkyTeam or KLM is no longer a shareholder in KQ.

Your query is rhetorical since KLM is still a 7.8% shareholder in KQ

Currently. Not necessarily in the future. Also 7.8% in KQ means nothing much to huge KLM.

Given that optimism, I think you should buy out as many of KQLC's shares. Talk to @obiero and his friends at the Exchange Bar.

Story za jaba and vibes.
So long as KQ is not paying KAA for landing and parking fees,JKIA is as dead as dodo.
End of the year will come and there will be nothing on the ground.
Eti leverage on JKIA balance sheet which is just idle land he is referring to.

I am pretty sure I see buildings and even a runway at JKIA. Not sure if they seem like idle land! Also, have you sighted the KAA balance sheet? It is multiple times larger than KQ assets. Fly Ethiopian does not settle slot fees in Bole. You need to recall the initial motivation for PIIP. Watch and learn
