The November 2023 IFB minimum value has been set at 50k. This is a departure from the usual 100k. Looks like GoK trying to attract small fish.

@Maka.... what is your prediction on the likely coupon rate?

Are we likely to see north of @18%?

T bill rates need to rise, and fast, to help the shilling. 91 day should be at 9%.

Time changes everything. Meanwhile government aiming to buy back 25% of the USD 2B Eurobond by June 2024 will likely lead to a further dip on the KES against the USD

Those who bought the 13.94% IFB same time last year have just lost 22.5% pap! If they have to sell.

13.94% is still a decent return. an inflation beating return

Am talking about those who have to sell not those who are holding to maturity.

If one invested one million last year in the Nov 2022 IFB (13.94%), if they get into the current market to sell, they will only get 775k. Because the new buyer will want to get 17.93% for their investment. (139k/775k)

Granted they will have earned 139k interest over one year but because the loss of value is 225k - they are still in a net loss position.

Wazuans - please get on top of your bonds/bills knowledge.

I think the people who invest in bills/bonds are knowledgeable and on top of it.
All the ones that I know, hold their bonds to maturity.
Getting 13.94% last year was a good deal.
And it still is.
