Ali did his job well. I support the call to kill all gangsters. Infact I have afew requests for the incoming commissioner. (1) kill all gangsters (2) clear the streets of all street families,those who defy the directive to be shot on insight (3) lobby the government not to abolish the death penalty and to have all death row inmates killed for their crime in a months time (we need the space for all pick-pockets and muggers who will be caught) (4) direct all policemen patrolling our towns to tone-down the weaponry (why do you need to carry an AK-47 in a civilized city- ofcourse this is after killing all gangsters) (5) increase the lowest police pay to atleast Kes 50,000 (6) engage the public in police work.

Sorry to say this,but that sounds like the typical snobbish attitude by Kenya's middle class that has been the bane of our quest for social justice and equity. I guess removing Ali is what we meant all along when we demanded police reforms. Now that he is out without any institutional reform to go with it,hoping the thugs will disappear and Nairobi will become a safe haven is simply a dream. Trust me its not going to be long before we are collectively woken up from dreamland.
