As much as I'm usually disappointed by Kenyan politics because it's usually a zero-sum game, the 2022 elections might actually be one of the best for the country.

1. End of Luo-Kikuyu political debt. Assuming that Raila wins and is sworn in as President, this election brings to a close a big historical disagreement between Luos and Kikuyus & the Odingas and Kenyattas. A Kikuyu president backing a Luo for President, should be a healing moment for a lot of people from Western Kenya.

2. I'm hoping that WSR ends up with 70% support in Mount Kenya which also helps to heal the Kalenjin-Kikuyu rivalry. So even if WSR doesn't make president, his supporters in RV will see that it is not because Kikuyus didn't back their man. So this should herald more peace in the Rift. Uhuru should not try to convince any more people to shift sides. Only 30% for Raila in Mt. Kenya is a sweet spot.

3. A different Kenyan tribe i.e. Luo taking the reigns of power will signal people from other tribes in Kenya that they too can become President. So that should make the rest of the Kenyan tribes feel a lot more included and help the country to be a lot more stable in future. No one likes to feel dominated. Case in point Rwanda and Burundi.

4. The big class divide that UDA was trying to exploit on is also a signal to the next government to create more opportunities for those at the bottom of the ladder. Kenyans need more platforms for economic liberation lest politicians exploit this for their selfish gain such as happened in Venezuela and we end up with a dysfunctional country led by populists who end up wrecking the economy.

5. We should come up with a smarter way to elect the next ruling party so our politics is not a zero sum game. For example, try out each party by giving them a problem to tackle and a budget, see how they perform to give an indication of how they would do if they formed the government. Similar to how you give employees a trial period before confirmation for full-time work. Right now we are wasting huge amounts of money on both sides trying to get to the same outcome.
