institutions have been flooding this share at 200bob (2million shares).... It still looks good for the long term but there is some risk for short term buying

Yes you can! The question is "Should you?". LOL. I couldn't resist that!Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly
Never count on making a good sale. Have the purchase price be so attractive that even a mediocre sale gives good returns.

@ Guru

I was thinking of buying it so that i can benefit from the rights issue which will take place probably at the end of the year.

Rights issue isn't "a benefit". It takes money away from you. Quite the paradox for "an investment"

Anyways, this indecisiveness is taking it's toll now, they have been talking about conversion and splits for about 3 yrs or more. No doubt it is a monopoly, so I think it's good in the very LT, this is also factoring the dilution that may occur. And hopefully, they don't licence another power distributor in future, otherwise it will be another KBC( the broadcaster).

@horton you can benefit from a rights issue through averaging down.... And if you study some economics you realise that KPLC will be a monopoly long after we are in the grave.... And that is clearly the reason why it is the ONLY nse company where GOK is planning on increasing its stake and not reducing it...

@guru, i thot GoK is converting pref shares to real shares hence increasing holding to close to 70%, then kplc issues rights but GoK does not exercise so that their holding goes down to 40% . . . my understanding all along anyway

GOK is increasing their stake to 50+% after the restructuring is over and it currently owns 40%...
