safaricom DPS let's wait for half year results first.


Yep " rafiki yangu" @Ericson (google translation) this is only for SAFCOM.

All others half year results have been out so there are some facts to evaluate and provide opinion


Safaricom have released HY results today.
Guidance is between 1-1.1 for dividend.


Banking sector Nil dividend in 2020 and probably 2021.
Dividend resumption will probably be from FY 2022.

Safaricom have borrowed to pay dividends? 2020 iishe


They borrowed to pay dividends early otherwise shareholders would have waited till mid November to December to receive dividend.
The borrowing was also for capital expenditures as they race to achieve 100% 4G coverage by end of the year.




In the course of their Financial Year safaricom normally borrows from banks to meet it's daily operations and repays by close of financial year.

The only reason most of these bank counters will survive a huge price downside is largely due to serious book-cooking.
