He says there's evidence to show that the judges are not worth the job but he cant share this when asked. He has no veto powers, the JSC which is a commission that employs judges has the absolute authority, ya rais ni kuapisha tu. He has some sort of representation, if they let him down during the nomination process shauri yake The constitution is the Supreme law of the land and no one is above it even the president Quote: 2) The Commission shall consist of -
(a) the Chief Justice, who shall be the chairperson of the Commission; (b) one Supreme Court judge elected by the judges of the Supreme Court; (c) one Court of Appeal judge elected by the judges of the Court of Appeal; (d) one High Court judge and one magistrate, one a woman and one a man, elected by the members of the association of judges and magistrates; (e) the Attorney-General; (f) two advocates, one a woman and one a man, each of whom has at least fifteen years’ experience, elected by the members of the statutory body responsible for the professional regulation of advocates; (g) one person nominated by the Public Service Commission; and (h) one woman and one man to represent the public, not being lawyers, appointed by the President with the approval of the National Assembly.

But seriously - Wanjohi's job on this is not to scrutinize the list given to him. He does not choose the legislative arm not should he choose the Judiciary! All Mushrooms are edible! The LSK under Nelson Havi is doing a good job to hold the executive to account. He may not remove the AG but the pressure is good for accountability. Consistency is better than intensity

The circus in the courts continues. How can a judge rule that an international criminal and drug dealer is a diplomat who is above the law and even warn the police that they should let him back into the country? https://nairobinews.nati...free-to-return-to-kenya
Quote:Oumarou Moumouni Ali, the owner of the controversial Kiza Lounge in Nairobi’s Kilimani suburb, is free to return to Nairobi, nearly a year after he was deported over allegations of international crime links.
High Court Judge James Makau has ruled that Mr Ali is a diplomat and is therefore immune to arrest and deportation in the manner done last year.
The judge also warned Inspector-General of Police Hillary Mutyambai against violations of the law by his officers, arguing that his verdict should be a reminder that the courts will intervene.
“From the above, it should be a reminder to the Inspector-General of Police that this court will not tire in reminding (him) that the Constitution of Kenya is the supreme law. It has life and it has teeth.
Intelligence reports shared with the Immigration Department indicated that Mr Ali is part of an international drug ring that launders part of its ill-gotten wealth in Kenya using establishments like Kiza Lounge.
The businessman was bundled into a Niamey-bound plane on August 22, 2019.
And 11 days after his deportation, Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i declared the Nigerien a prohibited immigrant, shutting the door on a possible return.
At the time of deportation, Mr Ali had applied for Kenyan citizenship but told the High Court that his requests for a work permit extension and Kenyan citizenship are yet to be responded to.
One month after his deportation, the High Court ordered the closure of Kiza Lounge and its Galana Plaza neighbour, B Club, following a separate court petition by Kilimani residents who argued that the establishments were violating noise pollution laws in a residential area.
The Interior Ministry and the Immigration Department argued that they have a right to expel any unwanted individuals involved in money laundering and other transnational crimes that are contrary to Kenya’s national security.

Am amused you are laughing at what is happening to Judiciary and Maraga. He is earning a salary and will retire in January 2021 with paid benefits until RIP. What your so called revisit is doing is messing up judiciary and justice in Kenya, of course it is the common man who suffers at end of the day. I don't think uhuru is punishing the masses.he is just careful not to include known criminals in the judiciary. The JSC should not be left to run like a cartel. That's why I support the minimal constitutional changes in the BBI that can be made by parliament. Politics is just things to keep the people divided and foolish and put your trust in men and none of them can do nothing for you...

Why wait until it gets to the point it becomes a public fiasco. Or did the lady have irrational demands? Hapa SDA Maraga amechoma picha mbaya. It is a curious fact that of all the illusions that beset mankind, none is quite as curious as that tendency to suppose that we are mentally and morally superior to those who differ from us in opinion.
