not really - the case started at home. she was hospitalized for what was about 8 days and released after she passed the tests. we will be mistaken to think that everyone will take 14 days to heal AFTER ADMISSION. The disease does not know when you get to hospital so that it starts the stop watch towards recovery.

The story of his mum dying is fake but she is ill (perhaps the sister as well - unsure of the illness). But him dying of Covid or at least complications related to Covid seems to be gaining credence

Nowadays if you have a head-on collision and die on the spot, then they find some corona in you, they will say you died of corona. NB even goats and papayas "have been found" to have corona.

People don't get one thing... when a mzungu has to chose between spending his tourism dollar in a country that seems to be fighting covid transparently against the one that declares it's covid free (yet 3 of it's neighbours are reporting issues with truck drivers from this country) - they will always pick the former one. especially if what they are looking to visit is in both countries and not like the great pyramids which you either see in egypt or on photos.

We do not want corona-infected wazungu visiting afrika. Let them remain in Europe and America with their disease.

Burundi's top court has made a ruling aimed at ending the power vacuum created by the sudden death of President Pierre Nkurunziza on Monday.

The Constitutional Court said has that President-elect Evariste Ndayishimiye should be sworn in as soon as possible.

Legally, the speaker of parliament, Pascal Nyabenda, should have become the interim leader.

But the cabinet decided to refer to the court and now Mr Ndayishimiye is due to become president two months early.

He was elected in May to replace President Nkurunziza, who had been in power for 15 years.

Secular music banned as Burundi mourns Nkurunziza

Burundi's cabinet has suspended playing secular music in public places during the seven-day mourning announced by the government following the death of President Pierre Nkurunziza.

The mayor of the commercial capital, Bujumbura, Freddy Mbonimpa said secular music was banned but people could still play gospel music.

The governor of the capital, Gitega, Venant Manirambona ,said songs "praising God" were allowed.

Mayor Mbonimpa in a statement said leisure activities were suspended during the mourning period.

He said secular music in bars, restaurants, hairdressing salons, cars and all other places of gathering was banned.

Only wedding parties, funerals and mourning wakes are allowed, he said.

State radio and private broadcasters have continued to play gospel music as the country enters day four of mourning.

Mr Nkurunziza was an evangelical Christian.

Burundi’s President Ndayishimiye: new cabinet, new COVID strategy

Quote:
While swearing in his new cabinet on 30 June, President Ndayishimiye declared the pandemic would be the biggest enemy of Burundians.” This new approach, he said, is because it is becoming their biggest concern suggesting the end of the political process in the small East African nation has turned attention to the pandemic.

Quote:
At a campaign stop in early April, Ndayishimiye, then the ruling party’s candidate and Nkurunziza’s chosen successor, told a crowd that “…if some have contracted the coronavirus, it’s so that divine action can transpire.”
The country also expelled WHO representatives in May, and used COVID-19 precautions to keep international observers away from the electoral process.
