Brazil had it's first recorded case on 25 February 2020. When Kenya was announcing its first case of Covid-19 Brazil had 98 REPORTED cases. So it takes a while to get to a place where it knocks off 1,000+ people a day and that path is paved with people despising it. All Mushrooms are edible! Some Mushroom are only edible ONCE!

Let us not be too hard on Magufuli, he may turn out to be the most prescient among our leaders. Even without good testing, it seems clear that COVID-19 is evolving differently in Africa than in the West. For one the morbidity rate is quite low. Having a youthful population is finally paying dividends for us (although other factors like weather could be at play also). Testing, therefore should not be our priority. Our priority should be preventing sickness. This means placing most of our resources into protecting health workers and in testing, treating and isolating those older than 60 (they are not very many, thank God) and anyone suffering from underlying conditions like HIV, Diabetes etc. One day soon, we shall seek to encourage infection among the healthy, as one path to achieving herd immunity. We might as well start now. "The opposite of a correct statement is a false statement. But the opposite of a profound truth may well be another profound truth." (Niels Bohr)

You can strike out people living with HIV as being part of the vulnerable people. So long as they have been on ARV studies have shown that they are capable of beating the virus. The problem could be on people with HIV and don't know about it. The most vulnerable targets are stressed people which includes hypertensive and diabetic persons. I can't post a picture of a meme I saw today. it was about how we our government is dealing with this thing. It depicts Kenya as a student copying from another student in the exam room. Magufuli with his PhD doesn't need to copy anyone. Politics is just things to keep the people divided and foolish and put your trust in men and none of them can do nothing for you...

At this point I would urge everyone stack the odds in their favor - eat well, get a bit of sun, exercise, mask, avoid crowds. All Mushrooms are edible! Some Mushroom are only edible ONCE!

Maghufuli is hiding at his home in Chato (si mjinga). Tzedians are doing their part with hygiene, masks and distancing. That said, East Africa might be forming a nice regional experimental unit. TZ with minimal action, Kenya with it's half-assed donor driven actions based on finger wagging/scolding of citizens and Rwanda/Uganda excelling in comprehensive control.
