@ Mukiha and all the other Wazuans.

-I am not against a railway line.
-What i am against is the idea that we can substitute a good road for a railway line.
-All the other countries in the world have good roads first and only after do they put up railway lines.
-This is what the AFDB document notes. But firat they build the road, the other things come later.
-Like JKIA is planning a second runway after the aurport was oppnening in 1979.
-See my point?

@Waithaka

There is a diff between the transcontinental railway lines built in the US, Europe and in Africa (uganda railways is a good exapmle) in the 19th and 20th century and the city transport railline we are discussing in this forum. May be the english used is confusing you? If so we can make it easier for you to digest. Lets use the term METRO. Google it, you will learn a lot.

....lets identify the problem....is it that we have too many cars coming to the city centre or too many people doing the same?
....if the answer be cars,then we have to expand the roads.no question about it.if it is people ,then the train would be more appropriate.

....now,there are so many cars which come through the city centre which dont need to, hence the need for the bypasses and the fly overs.
...what we need is a metro which rings around the city whether on ground or underground like in Russia.The trams in the Netherlands were planned for.The streets in Nairobi are too narrow for this.
....... did you know that a person wanting to cross from ngong road to langata has to go back to city mortuary rd about,then mbagathi rd about or worse still go to Karen?..this is one example out of many.

..there is also no business of someone on the Nakuru-nairobi highway going to Mombasa road using the city centre.
...bypasses,interchanges,flyovers and respect for traffic lights ...and then follow with railways.

...and while we were arguing about a highway; Pan Africa jumped 7.6%!
