Overdrafts and short term loans to sustain operations

This wont be sustainable post interest rate cap

Thanks. The FY is substantially lower than HY.

What explains the jumbo spike in non-fuel costs?

Are they not selling what they are buying?
What's the risk to KPLC if those purchases continue in 2019-20?

Asking the same questions. If the same PPA terms continue with no one to offload to or at lower than cost prices then both the P&L and balance sheet will be cratered. Is this the reason current liabilities are piling at an exponential rate?
The main purpose of the stock market is to make fools of as many people as possible.

Kenya power wants to start repairing vehicles. “The garage sits on huge land and we will liaise with insurers to give us an opportunity to repair vehicles. Going by the growing numbers of vehicles on roads, it is a potential business.”

They can't do what they have a monopoly and gov support in, yet they want to make money in Jua Kali.
By the same logic, garages should be given power distribution licences.
