Cancer incidences is 70% preventable by life style changes. The widely believed hereditary risk factor is not the major course. It constitutes 10-15% and you can walk away from it by life style changes.

Invariably cancer prevention is under your control.

The fact about diet is that from our typical food , there is little or no cancer fighting nutrients so as we age our body defensive mechanism becomes vulnerable to cancer

To ward off cancer our food intake should be DASH diet
DASH means Dietery Alternative against Stroke and Hypertension

DASH diet consists of mainly fibers which are antioxidants rather than basic carbohydrates and processed foods we are taking .
This consists of the following components:-

1. Fruits
2. Vegetables
3. Nuts and seeds(include pumpkin seed)
4. Selenium
5. Grass Fed Protein sources
6. Unprocesed carbohydrate in limited quantity.
7. Dehydrogenated oil like cold pressed olive oil or coconut oil
8. Moderate but consistent exercise
9. Natural spices like garlic, ginger and turmeric

For fruits and vegetables intake a word of caution here.
The source is very important to avoid consuming items filled with chemicals , insecticides and from questionable sources. It should be from natural source devoid of adulteration or artificial ripening using chemicals that can cause damage to the body (including cancer)

POTTASIUM QUESTION....WHICH FOOD HAS THE HIGHEST

The general notion is that we should consume banana that it is very rich in potassium.
I was of this school of thought as well if you read through my earlier posts .
We all know the health benefits of potassium.

I have now realized that there are several foods rich or better still richer in potassium than banana . I can name a few . Talk of avocado, boiled potatoes , yams, spinach, cabbage , tomato paste etc

The popularity of banana is based on the fact that it is readily available all year round and it is sweet .

For healthy living sweet fruits is not the best as they spike up insulin and they are normally converted directly to glucose by the liver . This can lead to weight gain .

NUTRIENTS DENSE FOODS

This is popularly called balanced diet .

What is important here is the usefulness to the body but not how sweet or palatable .
Ideal nutrient dense foods are always from natural or organic sources and not processed or packed foods .
We are all familiar with classification of food by categories ie carbohydrates(or starch), proteins , fats and oil.

Besides a good perspective to classify nutrient dense food is as follows :-

- Electrolytes
- Minerals
- Vitamins
- Phyto nutrients
- Fiber
