When mzee Moi was being born, Great Britain was negotiating for a loan from the US in an attempt to keep a pre WW1 financial order alive. By the end of WW2 the US was taking the mantle of global leadership. But it didn't take long for concerned parties to realize that the global financial system needed a fix. Hence most of the present realignments. The EU appears to be headed for a break up, or a deep crisis. NATO is in doubt, and there is no global leadership on any important concern - e.g. climate change, or even governance.

As if this isn't enough, we happen to be living at a time when science is changed or transitioned from one program/paradigm to another. The ideas behind the atom seem to be undergoing great changes. For example, the question of partial reflection of photons appears to have been ignored. Yet it may be an explanation to the disquiet about the inconsistent rates of the expansion of the universe.

The social and cultural sphere is facing intense pressure towards multiculturalism. We now have to live with the Pastafarians and Rastafarians alike, and somehow find a way to live in mutual terms.

In my opinion, these changes, and not forgetting how technology and innovation are moving, are of immense pressure and consequence, and we are likely not to have given them attention.

Challenges implied have far reaching consequence in all areas of life. We need to begin changing and adapting. For example, it is probable that Kenya as a country and nation state may not be in existence in the next hundred years. We could either start redefining ourselves or wait to be defined by others and circumstances without our intelligent participation or consent.
