I said earlier on that those teams which seem to struggle always cause upsets at the later stages of the WC. Mwenza.....i don't think there are any suprises so far. Can't remember the last time the Dutch lost a match while the Germans have been impressive from the start (apart from the Serbia match). I didn't expect the Brazilians to go all the way to the quarter finals....Argentina on the other hand had only one good game against South Korea, they never stood a chance against the Germans.

On any other day I would bet that Spain,surprise underdogs for today's match, would beat Germania. However, Octopus predictions or not, I think Ze Germans are eager to avenge the Euro Cup final defeat to the Spanish Armada...

Though there have been surprises galore this WC, I think Adolf will have one foot in the final by half time.

As for the final, I think it's too close to call after seeing Holland's performance yesterday but I'll with the Deutsch on this one.

Best goal of the tournament - Van Brunkhurst's goal against Uruguay yesterday - don't have access to Youtube at the office...Anyone who can recommend proxies that actually work?

Thanks Wa-ithaka, I actually watched the match though...I was asking about proxies for Youtube since it has been frozen at work, the same way you can access sites like facebook through facebook lite...

That was a boring semi-final match. Spain played anti-football. The Germans looked tired.

In the end, Paul the Octopus predicted rightly. smile

I cannot believe I am going to watch Spain again! So awful! Pedro cannot even pass to Torres with the goal-keeper left to beat! d'oh!

@jguru, what do you mean by saying Spain played anti football? Del Bosque's tactics of packing the midfield worked yet they still played their beautiful passing moves. While I may not like either team (I was supporting Brazil), I still have to give credit where it's due...even Loew confessed his team never got their stride.

That said, I think the final will be too close to call so may the best team win - none has ever won it so liwe liwalo...

That was the worst World Cup Final I have ever watched in my life. Penalties were the fairest way of deciding it, after a dreadful 120 minutes, sheer shenanigans on the pitch and numerous bookings. Howard Webb should have waited another 4 minutes before screwing the Dutch and letting Spain win it. Netherland's strategy was to kick the crap out of the Spaniards, and all the Spanish did was play anti-football and pass the ball sideways. I hope Brazil 2014 will be a much better affair.
