HI all
I am very new to stocks and i hold few co-op shares.. I am bit confused on whether to sell this one or to hold. with current ralley i make close to 35% in four months. Should i sell this and re invest in Centum and Equity ....Advice

stocks are for the longterm. You enter a share when prices are low and milk div and capital gains with time. Risk of jumping ships is that you will sell co-op at 15, buy centum at 25, sell at 35, buy nic at that time at 70...on and on. By then prices will have been bid so high and a market correction occurs. Then you watch as your stocks lose half their value. You weep and gnash.

@ sparkly. Stop scarin our fellow newbi-e investor. Dnt make it sound that investin is hell. @ xav.... Keep Co-OP Bank and also add Equity bank , CFC STANBIC ,KPLC , MUMIAS , EABL,ARM and some SCAN GROUP. You might ask whats common in all these stocks ? The answer is simple. They have very big expansion plans. So you can be assured of good profits. Translatin to good dividends. Since you are a long term investor time is ur friend. If you want maximum rewards buy into companies that will grow and full benefit from the EAC intergration. And this are mainly firms in the manufacturing sector.

@qw the question is whether he/she should sell co-op because he/she has gained 35% and put that money to centum and equity. IMHO its a bad idea to sell a stock with good prospects bcoz it has risen n you are not sure if it will rise further, so as to speculate on another whose price is rising. Having that in mind, which part of my answer is scary?

Keep Co-OP Bank

I thought your very first advice to newbie was to "Get out" of COOP....."buy centium (sic)..."??

The economy has slowed to 4.4% from 5.6% last year in 1stQ...earnings from from banking and industrials wont be that good...we are entering season of slow growth
The utimate goal of investing is to buy low sell high;if we re-write this core equation in psychology terms it becomes buy fear sell greed.

1Q 2009 was recovering from reeling from crazy shyte after:

a) PEV 2008
b) 3Q & 4Q of the Global Financial Crisis

I think 4.4% is respectable but we can much better except for the referendoom...

@ proverb. U faild to understand his investment strategy. He is long term. Focus on the question !!!!!!! If he's long term why shld he get out of co-op and buy centum. ( sic ) if he was after quick profits then i wld suggest he gets into centum.

@youcant all companies that released Q1 results have already priced in H1 results because they are more or less the same... of one plans to make money they better be looking at companies announcing H1 as their first announcement because what took place in the Q1 stocks will replicate in the H1 stocks
