Rank: Elder Joined: 6/8/2013 Posts: 2,517		Kenya-revises-SGR-revenue-downward-44pc Kenya has revised downwards the earnings from the standard gauge railway (SGR) in the first full year of operations by 44 per cent, raising questions over the accuracy of reports on the performance of the mega project. Official data released on Friday showed that SGR generated sales of Sh5.7 billion last year on the back of the cargo business. These figures are different from the numbers disclosed in March showing the SGR generated sales of Sh10.33 billion, a performance that was the basis of laudatory public comments by the new Chinese ambassador to Kenya Wu Peng last week. ... i give up "😖😡KQ makes money for everyone except the shareholder 😏😏 " overheard in Wazua

The problem of SGR is the costs were highly inflated beyond kenya's economy means. Wealth is built through a relatively simple equation Wealth=Income + Investments - Lifestyle

I doubt even the Chinese expect us to repay the loans comfortably but they keeep pumping funds as part of their global belts projects. Kenya signed a secret agreement with the Chinese allowing a mystery company with unknown local shareholders to run the Standard Gauge Railway, documents seen by the Sunday Nation show. Publicly, China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), a State-owned Chinese company with Kenyan offices, will run the trains for 10 years, but a “special purpose operating company” was formed in May 2017 to run the operations.
