Out of curiosity what happens in a case like this. Kama hana pesa the best the court can do is jail her for theft, then what? Can the hotel sue to attach her properties?

This is why people like Kosewe should be giving business lectures at Universities. A simple cash management that is effective and fool proof. Lipa kabla ya kula.

These wannabes normally pull an out of earth stunts. They will check in stretch limos, kizungu mingi, big business cards and they slay properly. It's like you can imagine B collymore check in and the last you want to ask from him is deposit knowing he is like a bank walking.

There was once a lady who checked in at Laico Regency claiming to be a queen from the Bahamas. At check out she was coinless and had nothing on her but her pretty face.

Unless there is another side of this story, this is very sad for these wannabes.

Copied

Eight suspects were Tuesday arraigned at the Milimani Law Courts for failing to pay a bill of Ksh.4.4 million after wining and dining at a lavish hotel in Nairobi’s Westlands area.

One of the accused identified as Caroline Muthoni is alleged to have invited her friends at Clarence House Hotel to allegedly celebrate what she claimed was her achievement in winning an international award from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

Caroline and her friends; Marylynne Chege, Victor Oduor, Natasha Wanjiru, Jackline Wanjiru, Alvin Onyango, Julius Mwangi and Grace Wanjiru are said to have checked in at the hotel on May 22, 2019 for a week-long celebration conference that was supposed to last until May 30, 2019.

However, after indulging in merrymaking at the facility for six consecutive days without paying, the management became suspicious and demanded for money from the group.

Their reluctance to settle the accrued bill prompted the hotel management to detain them before handing them to the police.

Appearing before Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi, the eight were charged with intent to defraud the hotel after they caused to be issued with hotel services worth Ksh.4.4 million which they did not settle.

Six of the eight suspects; Marylynne Chege, Victor Oduor, Natasha Wanjiru, Jackline Wanjiru, Alvin Onyango and Grace Wanjiru opted for an out-of-court settlement with the hotel.

Four accused persons gave the representative of the hotel the full amount of Ksh.100,000 each, while the accused persons; Victor Omondi and Alvin Onyango, placed their car — a Toyota Mark X — as security to the complainant pending payment of their debt.

Caroline Muthoni and Julius Mwangi pleaded not guilty to the charges of obtaining credit worth Ksh.3.8 million.

Caroline was released on a cash bail of Ksh.500,000 with an alternative bond of similar amount while Julius was ordered to pay Ksh.100,000 like his other co-accused. He, however, made a deposit of Ksh.50,000 and offered a motorbike as security until he settles the remaining Ksh.50,000.

Caroline Muthoni, the organizer of the conference, might be charged alone in the case if by the next mention date Julius will have settled the matter with the hotel.

The case will be mentioned in two weeks time

Even that hotel is a joke. Did these kids look like they could even afford that hotel? The hotel manager should be in the dock as well!

On the plus, these kids will now have more interesting Autobiographies than most of us.

BBI will solve it

Reminds me of this story that happened in New york

Quote:
Even on her way to prison, even after a jury convicted her of swindling almost everyone she knew and a judge accused her of running “a big scam,” Anna Sorokin was sticking by her story.

For years, Ms. Sorokin pretended to be Anna Delvey, a German heiress with a trust fund that paid for a life of glamorous ease. She lived in boutique hotels, wore designer clothes and hung out in Manhattan’s moneyed party circles.

In reality, Ms. Sorokin, 28, was a Russian immigrant who walked out on bills, connived her way into luxury, and persuaded a bank employee to give her $100,000 she never intended to pay back, the jury decided in convicting her last month.

The hotel is lying. You can't spend 80k a day in Kenya. That is a cheap hotel by the way. Most expensive booze is 15k.

They should deny and go home free.

Seems like this was squarely under the Building Bridges Initiative going by the party-cipants " Caroline and her friends; Marylynne Chege, Victor Oduor, Natasha Wanjiru, Jackline Wanjiru, Alvin Onyango, Julius Mwangi and Grace Wanjiru are said to have checked in at the hotel on May 22, 2019 for a week-long celebration conference that was supposed to last until May 30, 2019."

Julius Mwangi , made a deposit of Ksh.50,000 and offered a motorbike as security until he settles the remaining Ksh.50,000.

That's what for these social networks are being done for, everyone wants to stand out in some way or another and I may understand about all other like instagram, snapchat, facebook or youtube, but linkedin is somewhat way out of the question there anyway.
