ARM suspends its workings with Huawei. This is now going to hurt their Kirin processers. This seems like a cordinated take down of Huawei. Last year Intelligence agencies 5 Eyes (US,UK,NZ, Australia & Canada) sanctioned this process. Huawei for sure will bleed.

If he does that the impact will be in the short term. However, in 5G Huawei is far much ahead of the next companies (Nokia and Ericsson). This process is meant to either, slow them down or force them to share their knowledge with their Western competitors, if you consider 5G will be crucial for IoT and Huawei has more patents on 5G than Ericsson and Nokia combined.

Huawei spends $11b annually in R&D. Half their staff work in R&D. So I'm sure they already have something up their sleeves. Might take time to roll out an alternative OS to Android. Also remembering that Android also dethroned the Nokia OS, back then not so long ago Nokia was king. I think phone makers will have to have to develop and operate on their own systems like Apple and have Android and any other OS as Apps that one can switch to in their convenience. Otherwise, today it will be Huawei and tomorrow Samsung.

"All its manufacturing is in the west"......Where did you get that from? China manufactures most of American's household items, in China. In my estimation, 70% of the stuff inside Walmart is from China. There would be no Walmart and other large retailers, without China.

You also insinuate that nowadays large manufacturers just move, as if shifting from one village market to another, eh??? Where else will you find such a large concentration of highly skilled people if not Chinese cities? Where else will you get such cheap, reliable power, friendly investment environment, subsidiary parts, seamless transportation, tooling and equipment, technological advancement etc if not China? I think 70% of I-phone parts are made in china.....the batteries, the frame etc. Very few parts are imported, like the camera, chips etc. You want themm to move to Vietnam, then what? Start importing tools and parts from China? What kind of logic is that?

Did you also insinuate that the Chinese are peasants? Have you been there? Last I checked, their UPPER middle class are more than the entire US population!! Range Rovers, Mercs, Porsches are more commonplace on Shanghai & Beijing streets than Proboxes and Ractis on the streets of Nairobi. In 2018, China had more than 800 Dollar Billionaires compared to America's 500.

Lastly, this is not a trade war for the sake of it. There is an agenda behind all these shenanigans..... favourable negotiation outcomes, compromises etc. The US desires to at least level the playing field so that its companies and citizens can also benefit esp in international trade, and one of its tactics is imposition of tariffs on specific chinese goods. China had to retaliate, in self interest and self-preservation, by stopping the importation of Soy beans and Pork from the US, imposing heavy tariffs on sea-foods, luxury motor bikes etc. Huawei is simply the latest victim of the ongoing campaign.

You need to research more on China's economic and technological prowess. The US Economy is more likely to collapse, than China. And yes, Huawei will survive the onslaught, whereas Apple is likely to collapse. Check out Harley Davidson....its already on its knees.

you are correct, even microsoft the giant when it comes to software tried and failed. As long as huawei is targeting the western market, they will need to find a way to work with the western companies.

In my argument, I was referring to developers not liking govt interferes with their business. All these giant companies buy their apps from developers. They can easily change the business model.

Huawei US war is not so much about OS but BTS thats why the US is trying to force Europe to cancel business. Will EU agree?
