I like the this idea. They recompost your body turning it into 2 wheelbarrows of soil in 30 days..

I watched a documentary on the Tibet people and their sky burials. They chop up bodies and leave them for vultures. The choppers "prayed" before the chopping by taking hard liqour.

The explanations for the sky burials were: Firstly the land is mountainous and rocky, soil under which to bury the dead does not exist. Secondly, it is so cold and air so thin of oxygen that bodies do not decompose naturally.

Life is short. Live passionately.

Parsis, or Zoroastrians, also leave their dead in a Dakhma (also called Tower of Silence) to be decomposed naturally by vultures and other scavengers.

The kikuyu, maasai also did the same so that the body could go back to nature. The body was fed on by animals and recycled back into the ecosystem. I read Karen Blixen's "Out of Africa" book and she wrote that she wished she would also be left out in the open to be fed upon by vultures and hyenas and become part of nature.

I suspect tombs began to be built in the late bronze and early iron age. Before that civilization was tied to the soil and there were no hang ups as seen in the Egyptian pyramids.
