Quarter Final 1:

Netherlands Vs Brazil

Brazil, firmly through to the quarter finals, as usual. Netherlands also through, powered by Arjen Robben. smile

Assuming GHANA beats Uruguay, which is possible, they'll meet Brazil in the Semis. The road will end there.

@Impunity, if Ghana beat Uruguay they"ll meet either Holland or Brasil, not Germany or Argentina as someone has correctly pointed out. I hope they keep their heads and put away any chance they get because if they don't, Uruguay will beat them, I kid you not!

I never doubted Brasil would beat Chile though I have to admit I thought it would be close...maybe 2-1. There's nothing more potent than a Brazil with a solid defense coz any one can score, all the way from Lucio to Fabiano, Hollands first real test in my opinion, perhaps Brazil's as well.

I'll disagree with Njungé on the Argentina Deutsch quarterfinal match, I think Argentina's defense has not been tested. The Germans got a wake up call after losing to Serbia, Argentina have had no wake up call yet! I agree it's probably the final before the final, I hope Messi prevails because I don't think Maradona is a great tactical coach, I just think he has talented players.

For today, I think Spain will pip the Portuguese to it, neither team has been convincing but player for player, Spain has the edge. I couldn't care less about the Paraguay game, I wish they were playing against Cameroon. What a shame they're not!

@Smano,
Spain has players with big names but no team while Portugal's weakness is relying too much on CR.If Portugal throws two strikers alongside CR,they should easily beat my favourite team.....while at it,kindly take note of Fabio Coentrao on Portugal's left back.lively lad.

@ Pondi, Spain has a beautiful team no doubt, but remember that is what we all said about Barcelona........until InterMilan came along.

This is exactly what will happen to them, Portugal, with no flair and no pass, pass, pass and yet more passes, will take them out. Sad as some may say, but the World Cup is not won with just beautiful play, there has to be an element of guts and the will to fight.

God knows what Spain will do if they went down to 10 men d'oh!.

Pondi...Spain do not have the players to play defensive football especially with Xabi Alonso struggling with an injury. They really miss Marcos Senna in that Midfield....Torres also should be dropped from the starting line up, i think at this world cup he would be more useful as an Impact player!

What I like most about people here is the way they have become cautious about Team Ghana.................As somebody said " Its better to live as if there is God only to find there is No God when you die rather than live as if there is No God Only to find He exists upon your death."

In an error of Samson-esque proportions, Rooney clearly got a bit bored at England's Rustenburg training camp and decided to chop off his chest wig - and was seen sporting his newly-shaven look after the defeat to Germany.
So could this be the reason for the Manchester United striker's woeful performances in South Africa?
Aside from a goal against local side Platinum Stars in the final warm-up game, Rooney failed to find the net when it mattered.
He showed only glimpses of the talent that had been on show for the whole season preceding the World Cup, and during a goal-filled qualifying campaign.
The picture above shows a before and after shot of a bare-chested Rooney - on the left after England's 3-1 friendly win over Mexico last month, and on the right looking miserable after turning in another rubbish game against the Germans.
Not only does he seem to have become paler than a polar bear in a bucket since those heady days at Wembley in May, but he's also a lot less hairy and a lot less talented by the looks of things.
Coincidence? You decide.

From "Metro" How does one attach a photo on their post? It's quite hilarious though I feel for Rooney not being able to replicate the form he had for Man Utd.
