The title of this thread says it all about the poster's mindset. This is less about the outrage at a person being assaulted, but more about questioning whether or not he is man enough to have defended himself in that situation.
Alai's Twitter version, though obviously laced with political overtones, is far more compassionate and at least elicits outrage at the thought of ANY group of people, whether civilians or authority figures:
1. Torturing another human being.
2. Being so bold as to film the torture and forward it to a wide-enough network that one of the recipients passed it on to Alai, et al.
3. Being certain that they will NOT be punished for their actions.
Sadly, I have not seen even a shred of sympathy or empathy for the person being tortured on social media, at least for the posts that I viewed.

Kenya has never been lawful. It is a system designed to protect those in power and their few elite friends. It was designed that way by the colonialists and nothing has changed. Don't ever kid yourself that there is a law or system to protect you. If you ever associate or find yourself working with this groups, be very careful and be ready to lose your soul or be on the losing end.

The assailants were arrested, arraigned in court & granted bail

This may seem crass but the lack of sympathy or empathy comes from "he ain't one of us". Same way if you meet street boys beating one of their own you wouldn't be concerned in the same way if you saw them beat a smartly dressed guy. Same reason we discuss some murders on wazua and others we ignore.

Hehee before I took a sabbatical, I left you guys mourning some school bus accident involving some "rich" school in Msongari, I guess Loreto......The mourning lasted for like a year i guess, never mind, many more had died in far worse accidents, only poorer.......After a while I felt I was clearly in the wrong forum.......of hypocrites. it is an african problem. Ideological bankruptcy,, nothing else. TULIA.........UFUNZWE!

This is Kenya of course, so I'm not shocked to see the kind of reactions to such. People only defend those with whom they belong to the same class. That's why Robert Alai's posts have not even attracted the attention they deserve. I dont want to say that this man is weak but if i ever get to such a situation in life, i had rather die fighting than let some wannabe gangsters terrorise me for hours.
Every Bully is confident but only to that point. where the victim fights back.
