...the disallowed goal had profound psychological and mental effect on the English players...BUT somebody tell me, were those referees so blind not to see that was a goal. Lord have mercy!!!

History has an interesting way of repeating itself...in the 1966 World cup which England won, the Germans were denied a clear goal when the ball struck the post and crossed the line. 2010 same thing happens but this time England were the victims.

One thing we all seem to forget is that the vision of the ref on the pitch is quite different from what we see on the TV....the ball was struck from far so its quite possible that the Ass. Ref was not positioned well to make a correct call.

It does not matter England were still going to be eliminated from the world cup....Capello got the line up all wrong especially after Ferdinand got injured ...i think caraggher would have performed better than Mathew upson ...and ROONEY did not score in the 2010 World Cup..what a shame!

wrong
With the score level at 2–2 at the end of 90 minutes, the game went to extra time. In the 98th minute Hurst found himself on the score sheet again; his shot hit the crossbar, and bounced down and hit the ground either onto or just over goal line. Whether the ball actually crossed the goal line or not has been a matter of discussion for decades, and this goal, known as the "Ghost Goal", has become part of World Cup history. Recent digitally-enhanced footage is said to clearly illustrate that Geoff Hurst's second goal did not cross the line.

The goal did not cross the line but it was given, to the ENGLISH.

Bkismat...sorry got my facts wrong there, it was the other way round. England were awarded a goal but replay showed clearly that the ball had not crossed the line.

Why did the 2010 w/cup final had to come this early?Sad Sad Sad

Germany vs Argentina to me is the final, and it will go all the way to penalties!

I can foresee 1 red card for the Germans.
Liar Liar Liar

I don't think their will be any lively match in this tournament than this clash.

To the English, I dont pity you, you deserved that humiliating defeat.

@wasee, its highly possible and I put my money on it.Chilean are so physical and and very accurate at passing the ball,I wont be surprised tonight if Samba mboys and u are sent home!

Although they have a high affinity to red cards!

For the second time i'll say this.Germany is no better only that they had small ideas while England had 11 men with no brains.Sitting back and waiting to counter is an easy game to beat. This fraudze will be also exposed by South American soccer.

@Impunity,
I support you on that.Brazil is no longer playing Samba. It's the Chileans who have perfected it.Their attacking and defending formation is total football and the Chilean players seem ready for 90 minutes and beyond. If Brazil decides to go physical with the likes of Mello,i foresee a red card.

Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.

@Kyt,
Capello is crap. Why the English go for foreign coaches ,i'll never understand. They need to play their game and just to prove that Capello did not have any game plan, look at Loew's simple strategy...

"Today we were dominant, we were successful in luring John Terry out of defence with [Thomas] Müller and [Lukas] Podolski penetrating the wide defence.

Löw said that was all part of the plan. "We knew that the midfield is [Steven] Gerrard and [Frank] Lampard, who always support the forwards, and that their midfield would be open.

"So our objective was to set Terry up with Klose to force him to come out of the defence. We knew that the fullbacks would be very much to the sides and create spaces between the England defenders that would help us penetrate their defence. We wanted to do this and we were successful there," he explained.
Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.

it is agreed that the Germans have displayed the very best of team work, beating Messed Messi will be as simple and as comfortable as 69.
and whats with Maradona trying to force football out of Messi by getting rid of Tevez!!!!!

Brazilians without Kaka are as useless as Sir alex the fundahhh...Manuseless.

spain..i hope Fab` can see no future..he is really a misfit..stick to Arsenal.

argentina vrs germany. what a cracker. I honestly can't call this one, but if I had to.... the sheer individual talent of the argentines may just do it for them.

If Chileans triumph upon Samba mboys today, then this w/cup is for Chile to lose.Chile is my team.

I cant pain my heart to bet on Ghana,in fact the sooner they are eliminated the better for my health.

Imagine Klose and Muller against the sleeping Ghanaian defense, 7-0 in the first half.Podolski with his long crosses!!!!

I wish they could meet a team like Spain or Holland (but the die is cast, its either Germany or Germany), that would lead to a more fairer goals of say 3-1.Pray Pray Pray Pray

am glad the Lampards goal was disallowed. I remember the English FA is one body that has been openly objecting the use of touchline technology...serves them right....

Englands needs a coach who has the courage of playing without either Lampard or Gerrard in the same match....many coaches are not couragous enough to bench either of the two...look at Dunga...he has been benching Dani Alves though we know he is as good as Maicon coz the play the same role...there is no use of having Gerald,Lampard and Milner in the same field..coz thats the same thing

Brazil and the Netherlands will progress, that is assured, so their will be no shocks today.

Tomorrow sees the long awaited exit of Spain. They have been a disappointment Sad just as thought they would be. They have been talked about as the favourites, but remember what happened to Argentina in 2002, out in the first round. Spain would have gone out then but for the Swiss failing to beat little Honduras.

Tomorrow they come up against a very good Portugal side, and out they go.
