“We launched operations four years ago and in 2017 realised a turnover of Sh142 million which we feel would have been higher if we had adequate funds to take up new opportunities arising from our operations,” she said.

Let's see what comes out of Ibuka.
I want more firms to list but the performance of firms that have recently listed is sketchy. Ignore the share price and look at the poor profitability. The "best" results seem to be the one just before they list! [Cooking]

NBV - Reduced turnover. Losses.
Kurwitu - Not sure what it does but declares operational losses.

ADSS - Not so recent but it is dead

FTGH - I think it will report a profit for FY 2018 given its HY performance but a far cry from what was reported in earlier years.

This drought is not healthy for the stock market. Most Kenyans are even forgetting there was a word like IPO.....

I'm afraid this looks like a scam. Never heard of them, never seen their chai in any supermarket. Hapa wazuans wataona mambo.

This one looks promising. However, i have to visit hardwares in Githurai and other locations and see whether Kifaru steel is popular with the fundis.

Most of the recent companies that have listed have been shadowy. They've been an exit plan for the initial investors to offload dud company to unsuspecting Wanjikus. After Home Africa, I've been wary sana.

Very proactive of NSE. My only concerns are:

1. Quality of firms - The firms signing up are uknowns, unlikely to return confidence to the NSE. They should target more established firms.

2. Follow through - NSE has a poor execution record. How many firms will actually list? We are still waiting for Derivatives market, the commodities exchange, electronic trading of fixed income securities.
Life is short. Live passionately.

Seems to me that the Ibuka program is a the start of a program to encourage more listings. Not all will make it to the listing stage but that's OK. Vet out those that do not make the cut.

I agree with The Deal. I also think that there are several government programs with aim to encourage new companies as well as start-ups to be listed on stock exchange. In this way they will be able to collect more money for their future growth

When is this Ibuka nonesense expected to bear fruits? All you hear is firms getting admitted, but no firms graduating on to being listed. The Ibuka program is overrated.A lousy experiment for PR.

Don't hold your breath man....The Ibuka list of firms is very mediocre yet in this country there are serious firms like Bidco, Devki, Brookside, Pwani oil, Deepa industries, Tononoka steel, Unilever, Hyoung, General motors, Mombasa cement, Kabras/Rai/Menengai etc. whose products Kenyans use on a daily basis...

Atleast Guru has committed to one day listing Devki so that Kenyans can share in his prosperity.
