Late last year a similar new jet crashed. Looks like a Boeing issue to me.

May those who have lost their lives RIP.

That's a very new plane and this needs serious investigation. This is the standard short haul plane.

You will not have any wreckage. Looking at this crater, this was a vertical nose dive at full throttle. The impact must have reduced the entire plane into small pieces and probably there was an explosion on impact being take off the fuel tanks were Full. It's probably only the engines that that made it and these will be deep into that crater.

Never knew dry ground would swallow a plane.

https://edition.cnn.com/...nairobi-intl/index.html

Quote:
Ethiopian Airlines CEO Tewolde GebreMariam told reporters the pilot reported technical difficulties after takeoff and asked for clearance to return to Addis Ababa.
He was given clearance to turn back, GebreMariam said, citing the air traffic controllers' record.
The pilot was a senior Ethiopian Airlines pilot who had flown more than 8,000 hours. He had an "excellent flying record," GebreMariam said.
The CEO visited the crash site Sunday. He said the plane "is now right inside the ground" and it was not possible to identify whether it was an emergency landing or a crash.

With such an incident where there is serious descend, do guys die mid air or on impact with the ground?

Sad RIP....Meanwhile an eye witness says he was collecting firewood when he saw the plane circling above as if the pilot was struggling to control it and then it hit the ground in a huge explosion like a bomb. Did the plane stall?

Another eyewitness account....engine failure, terrorism?

https://www.thesouthafri...tness-details-pictures/

Quote:
“The plane was already on fire when it crashed to the ground. The crash caused a big explosion,” Tegegn Dechasa recounted at the site, littered with passenger belongings, human remains, and airplane parts around a massive crater at the point of impact.

“I was near the river near the crash site. Shortly after the crash police and a fire crew from a nearby air force camp came and extinguished the plane’s flames on the ground,” Dechasa said.

“The plane was in flames in its rear side shortly before the crash. The plane was swerving erratically before the crash.”
