Obama's pension = $207,800 per year (Ksh 20.8 million)
Kibaki and Moi's pension (Ksh 95 million each)
Awori's pension (Ksh 79 million)

So basically they get a pension 5 times higher than Obama.

Now Obama is a man who took a country from the brink of a great depression and reduced the unemployment rate from over 10% to lower than 4% while uniting a divided country.

- Moi sowed division and killed thousands via those fake land clashes in Molo and Coast
- Kibaki was lazy and is responsible for PEV 2008
- Awori was a useless VP who left no meaningful legacy

Kenya is poor. USA is the wealthiest country. And we pay our lousy leaders more than USA.

Meanwhile hospitals are ill-equipped and infrastructure is in bad shape. This is why trump calls us a sheet-hole

Never mind how many threads appear on the same, the fact remains that we are a shit-hole country governed by leaders whose main interest is hitting us with buckets upon buckets full of shit...

This is not an ODM vs Jubilee thread. But you can Look up their numbers and post them here. I think you can only get a pension after you declare retirement from active politics. So my guess is none of those people have a pension yet.

But it does not matter who is getting the pension. The point is that nobody in a poor country should be making 5X what Obama, Bush and Jimmy Carter are getting.

In a sane county that is not a sheet-hole:
All politician salaries and pensions should be pegged to GDP per capita

This way MPs will be motivated to improve the livelihoods of all Kenyans not just theirs.

Boss, there's no Jubilee and ODM, they became one after the handshake. I was asking if the others are still getting paid by government and how much. They are probably earning more than uncle Moody.

BBI will solve it

Thats true. I hate how Kenya is run. As Hardwood said above, we are a stupid nation. We think giving obscene amounts of money to rich people is more important than ensuring hospitals are properly equipped or investing in projects that create jobs for countless number of jobless youth who have nothing else to do but mug and carjack people.

According to Business Daily, Mama Ngina is paid US$ 66,000 per year

In America, widows of former presidents are paid $20,000 a year.

The same Ngina whose family looted this country rapasciously. Who used to make money by selling Ivory.

Kenya is neck deep in debt and we are paying people former firstladys over three times as much as the richest country. Are we dysfunctional or what?

At the time when the Act providing for these payments was passed, the argument was we need to pay big amounts to retired leaders especially presidents as a cure against leaders wanting to hold on to power.

This worries me, more so when the beneficiaries of official or legal corruption are the ones leading the war on corruption. This is looting of public coffers legally. Let them return what has been stolen from Kenyans especially by political elite since independence. We can actually say that the the creation of independent commissions to combat the challenges that we face has not worked as it has only created more jobs for the elite.
Our national challenges are deep rooted, sorry to say more than BBI.The courts have become more of the haven for looters and criminals than for the victims. Court cases take long to defeat the course of justice. Why can't a case be decided in a month especially corruption cases comprising of economic crimes.. Must we put that in constitution to have it happen? Why can't we ensure that no public servant earns more than say 500 k and no more perks.. It is public service for God's sake. The political class has been raping the country since independence.. Something must give.

I keep on saying that Mukora Maraga and his department of wakoras have failed flat in discharging their duties in which they earn hefty salaries to discharge.
