He grew up in Tanzania. Thats why his Kiswahili is so fluent. Better than most Kenyans except those who speak it for a living. Also his roots are in Katanga where the primary language is Congolese-Swahili aka Kingwana.

When he first became president, the joke was that he could not speak Lingala which is the primary lingua franca around Kinshasa.

It's more than just the Rwandese. Congo is the sleeping giant that should be competing at par with the BRICS the Belgians and the west in general are still not done with it.

"Rwandese" rule Uganda, Rwanda and DRC baba. Kenyans if you are not careful they will rule you too at some point. They are the real sleeping giant. I read an article some time back that among their culture they believe "deception is honourable" Clearly they execute that saying with staggering efficiency!

His father (Laurent) led an army for years. The army that helped him overthrow Mobutu largely comprised of Rwandese soldiers. My guess: He must have learned the language from them

@Masukuma should come here and see this new voting technology.

This is the same Congo where Mobutu once quipped, Its not the voters that count, but the people who count the votes

Laughing out loudly

That is the official lie. Hippolyte Kanambe's roots are well known. He is Mzee tatu (Kabila's) STEP son, his roots are deep in Rwanda and his father and origins thereof were well known. Next you will be saying M7 is a pure Ugandan because he speaks very fluent Baganda! Remember the days when the shadowy and scary/dangerous rwandan James Kabarebe ran the country (DRC) from the military HQ in Kinshasa? But the heat was too much and the Congolese started complaining about the proliferation of Rwandese in all senior posts of gava, so to stem the uproar he quietly returned to Rwanda to give orders from there Laughing out loudly Don't joke with these guys, my friend!

mugundaman you are now engaged in baseless rumour mongering without offering any proof.

That Kabila lived in Tanzania is very clear from his Kiswahili accent which is classic Tanzanian.

Before going to TZ, he attended a primary school organized by his fathers army who were mainly Rwandese. This would explain why he speaks Kinyarwanda.

And His father was a rebel and lived an itinerant lifestyle, moving from Tanzania to Uganda and Rwanda many times over 3 decades. In the process he had allies and associates from all 3 countries.

It should come as no surprise therefore that members of his family can speak several different languages.

Radiomast all I can say is that you are very naive Laughing out loudly

"Le petite Rwandaise" Hippolyte Kanambe was even discussed in great depth in the Belgian parliament. Google Mugabe's comments on why he participated in the intervention in DRC with reference to the imminent carving out of a Tutsi-Hima empire in the great lakes region. Then google why a Tanzanian pastor died mysteriously after going on national television and exposing Hippolyte Kanambe's dark roots. If that does not convince you then shauri yako, keep believing the official lie Laughing out loudly

Reminds me of the official lie that Hitler was a brilliant general and strategist etc etc during wartime. He even was glorified on the covers of time magazine. Then decades later they turn around and tell you that the man and the entire Third Reich was on a powerful cocktail of drugs, including methamphetamines, the whole time! Laughing out loudly No wonder he could slaughter people and burn them in fire like kuku! A sane person in their right mind cannot do that. The truth always comes out decades later when it doesn't matter any more. But in the moment, gullible people believe everything they are officially told.

There are several 'leaks' out there claiming that Joseph was not Laurent's son.
Laurent himself had several wives some of them inherited and he never introduced to the public any official wife. He did however introduce Joseph as his son during the first Congo War. Whether that was under duress or not, will never be known. I expect that DNA evidence will put the matter to rest one day.

Laurent did benefit from Rwanda and Uganda to oust Mobutu but the relations soured when he ordered them to leave the country... The second war was started as a result of this with Zimbabwe (Mugabe) and Angola (Eduardo dos Santos) supporting Laurent. Now Joseph is seen as the Rwandese trojan horse, taking over power remarkably after Laurent was assassinated.

Why all the mystery about our leaders? Some allege that:
1.Kenyatta was from Banyoro Kingdom and bears uncanny resemblance to Omukama Kabalega
2.Kamuzu Banda was a British impostor. The real Kamuzu died in train accident in SA on his way to Europe
3.Quattara the Ivorian president is a Burkinabe
4.M7 is Rwandese

Yes indeed. Most Congolaise are very familiar with these facts, but it is remarkable how most people outside of Congo are in the dark about these truths!

No 4 is FACT that you can take to the bank baba and cash in crispy notes. And there are hundreds of sources to prove it. Whenever Hippolyte, Mlefu and m7 meet trust me nywee Kinyarwanda flows behind closed doors.

Think about it. What sort of name is Mu-Seveni? No African on earth is called Mu-7 or Mu-8 or Mu-9. These are 100% bandia made up names. Clearly Caleb Akandwanaho's brother used the name to mask his Rwandese origins. Then there is the issue of his half somali brother, and his clearly Rwandese (in features) wife. And the proliferation of out and out Rwandese who have helped run his gava over the past three decades from kina Tinyefunza on down. Does not take a rocket scientist to figure out iko ghitu hapo.

On Kamuzu, the version I heard was that he was Trinidadian. The opposition in Malawi long held that it was strange the man could not speak a single word of Chewa and his origins were extremely murky. I think he was also said to be completely senile in his last years much like was said about our first president.

@mugunda, the Banyankole, who M7 belongs, are very close to Batutsi. The other close ethnicity being the Bahima. I tend to think it's a closeness akin to that of Gikuyu, Embu & Meru

The Batutsi in DRC are known as the Banyanasisi. Same people exactly just different nations.

I have no reason to think M7 isn't a Munyankole
