Going to CT is cheaper than going to Somalia....Risk... They have the money. A big boost to the bottom line. Good strategic move once again from the management. @maka, who is the Commercial Director after the departure of Coste?

You don't pick a mbuzi (profit making entity) and put a leopard (mismanaged entity with huge lossess) to watch over. First find out why KQ not doing well and address the root cause

Turkish, Ethiopian, Emirates, Qatar, Etihad - all receive their hub concessions and other subsidies.

What's the core business of KQ?If they get the concession, will they hire personnel to run JKIA or will they absorb KAA staff? Does ET run Bole or EK run Dubai Int. airport? Pardon my ignorance..how about KQ being given the airline catering biz at JKIA for a start?

Are ET, Turkish, Emirates and others mismanaged and making losses like our own? If kq was well managed and making profit, we could talk. But what is more likely if and when the deal goes through is that the little kaa makes from jkia will find its way into kq fat cats' pockets. GOK will then have to pump money to save jkia as well. I don't know who or if there's anyone at all who advises this govt

If you see clearly, you will find that operational margins are getting lower with each passion year. I don't know the factors which are affecting these stats. The government needs to help the domestic industries and companies grow in order for the country to rise out of poverty.

This proposal could be back door attempt for KQ to stop paying KAA fees at JKIA. So expect the following scenarios few yrs down the line 1) SCAM. KQ stops paying fees to JKIA, but they still reflect in the books 2)KQ stops paying fees to JKIA - coz they own the managing firm. Revenue goes down. They then increase charges for foreign air lines. Then the foreign airlines start moving to other hubs. In other words, there is no possible positive outcome from where i seat.

Four African airlines plan to launch the first African Civil Aviation Alliance before March next year, to break the stranglehold of Ethiopian Airlines on the continent and boost their fortunes through innovative ways. Air Mauritius, South African Airways, RwandAir and Kenya Airways hope to use the alliance to achieve the "much needed economies of scale" which would accord them improved efficiency and collaborations. The continent's aviation sector has been dogged by challenges, including high taxes, airfare and the cost of jet fuel; poor airport infrastructure; international competition mostly from Gulf carriers, and inward-looking aviation policies which have pushed three of the four (except Air Mauritius) into a loss-making territory for more than four years in a row. The four airlines have been discussing the alliance for over 15 months, and are currently putting final touches onto the deal. It is expected that the arrangement will help them cut back on costs, improve synergy between hubs and expand code-sharing on several routes, making them more competitive than the continent’s top carrier, Ethiopian Airlines and foreign carriers making inroads into the continent. possunt quia posse videntur
What about this... https://simpleflying.com...s-boeing-737-order/amp/
Let them start the operations first and we can talk about anything else.
