Very unfair to demolish the muhindi hotel while the Warwick centre (and apartments) next door is left standing....why the double standards?

So the residents are happy with some of the commercial buildings (eg warwick) in their area and not others? Citizentv.co.ke wrote:In August this year, Citizen TV established that the Gigiri Village Association had filed a complaint in July 2015, lamenting that the putting up of a commercial structure in the area violated physical planning regulations for the low-density estate.
Residents argued that the area should be limited to low residential, one-family houses as it had no facilities to support the hotel.
In December 2016, the county government demanded proof of public participation of the residents and the embassies threatening to cancel the approval.

Sometimes its hard to believe some things. But also we do take things to our hands a lot. This guy had opposition to the building since he started always going to court for reprieve. The same court allowed the demolition. Basically the one who "ATE" approved, and the one who did not "EAT" demolished Life is an endless adventure

When M01 used to preside over UoN graduations every hall of residence and building with a view to the graduation square would be cleared by the security police.
I hear that initially Sonko had wanted the top 2 floors demolished (for UN/US Embassy security) but owner was stubborn

So if I feel that my neighbour is a "security threat" to me I can call SANY to demolish his house? Also why are embassies being located in residential areas? Zoning laws say those residential areas should have only 1 family home and an SQ, not offices.

Right from the construction, this man was warned but he greased City-hall hands back then and thought he would continue doing so. Too bad. "There are only two emotions in the market, hope & fear. The problem is you hope when you should fear & fear when you should hope: - Jesse Livermore .

Grand Manor Hotel was part of the long infighting between Sonko and Kidero, UN had began sending requests/Emails back then when Sonko was a Senator asking the County to stop the development of the Hotel. The guys oiled Kidero and bypassed Sonko thus adding salt to injury, Sonko has been targeting the Hotel long before becoming a governor when he always walked with lots court papers and evidence against Kidero to every Media house. The destruction of the hotel was coming, since he had mentioned it severally... the worst think about all this is that it was partly an EMOTIONAL vendetta against Kidero. I am sure Sonko views this as an achievement. To be honest, I will not be surprised to know Kidero has some ownership rights in Grand hotel I work so I can afford the amount of alcohol required to continue going to work

The county govt (under kidero) gave him approvals for the building. He should sue the county for the 3 billion he used to develop the property. The county can't just come in when you have completed the construction and demolish the building despite the approvals. The rogue governor must be stopped and be made to pay dearly. We are a country governed by laws.

Kudos. Respect private property... The court stopped the demolition of the hotel http://www.mediamaxnetwo...n-of-grand-manor-hotel/
Quote:The demolition of multi-million shillings Grand Manor Hotel in Gigiri was halted yesterday after the owner Praful Kumar lodged an appeal.
Environment and Land Court judge Benard Eboso ordered that the demolition be stopped pending the hearing and determination of the case by the businessman.
Whitehorse Investments Limited through lawyer Githinji Marete informed the court that if the orders are not issued, Nairobi county will continue with the demolition of the said property.

With the damage already done by SANY, the idea of a hotel is no more.
