Once again congrats my brother mzee VVS
on NIC sharp rise due to CBA merger plan.

If I were you I would have sold off at 30+ now and take position with other few promising counters (Safcom, KCB EABL)
Unfortunately I am not VVS and the choice is his .

NOTE:- I do not own any NIC shares

Complements of the season VVS....

Asante sana.

I don't have many NIC but I have a long history with it.
It used to belong to StanChart, as the majority shareholder, then to BBK which spun it off. Then the Ndegwas came in and merged it with AmBank.

2019 might be a good year if KK, Unga (maybe - if Seaboard makes another attempt) and NIC close in my favor.

I hope another buyer pops up for NIC to create a bidding war!

CBA has come to the rescue of NIC;the bad loans weigh heavily on the bank.Every week they are on the newspapers trying to auction properties of defaulters.
Those whose buying price is in the 40s,you will be at a loss if CBA decide to delist NIC

"Though the deal is being marketed as a merger, it is understood that CBA, which has grown exponentially in the last decade to become a tier one bank will be the one with the last laugh and is understood to be the one buying NIC."

CBA Assets 238B, NIC Assets 200B. They operate in similar markets geographically. Looks like a merger to me.

But not of equals or 50:50 sharing.
Lets wait to see the finer details

CBa BV = 104/-
NIC = 54/-

So PAT if you combine them straight line which obviously doesn’t work that way would be 9.1B as a best case scenario. 400B in assets =9.1B PAT

There's someone for everyone:

KK is being pursued by Rubis
NIC is being pursued by CBA
Unga is being pursued by Seaboard
Even ARM has suitors...
And KQ is being pursued by creditors

I don't "trade" and I am a-OK holding on for now. I will let it play out given I am the patient sort.
Do note this might end up initially as a "merger of equals" with NIC and CBA shareholders getting shares in CBA-NIC.
Similar to CFC-Stanbic.

53:47 CBA:NIC and the trades at 33 but a cash offer would have been a better option for me.

In the old days, the merger news would have shot NIC to over 100. How I miss the old days...

I think heightened oversight prevented insider trading ahead of the announcement and market manipulation.

CBA is good news for NIC but for how long?
