Keter said they had decided to tell the truth about the maize scam, adding that only President Uhuru Kenyatta would be able to save farmers. He linked Ruto and his allies to the cartels that had been messing up the sector.

"We want to tell the DP that we know the problems and cartels frustrating farmers are directly linked to him and his office. That’s why we want all leaders probed. We are also ready to be probed," the outspoken lawmaker said.

The leaders said the DP recently visited Congo Brazzaville for more than a week where he allegedly planned to start maize farming on 500,000 acres. The maize would be imported into the country, further frustrating local farmers, they said.

Tiren warned those who were involved in the maize scandal to brace themselves for life in jail. “The DP should be investigated. Why doesn’t he want to come and help farmers and why doesn’t he want to listen to us? If there are cartels, the President has ordered for a lifestyle audit,” he said.

“Let the audit begin right from the President himself, just as he said, then to the DP and all the way down, including me.”

Rift Valley residents and Kenyans in general are not interested in numerous harambees by Ruto’s team while farmers and poor Kenyans suffer, the MPs said.

For starters corruption begins at the very top. All Kenyan presidents have built their fortune on corruption. How do you expect them to fix corruption if they are the primary culprits? Al corruption happens with their blessing.

If you are a reformer or if you insist on doing the right thing, you might be assassinated or detained without trial or fired.

Look at all the people detained without trial. All were people who threatened to expose corruption or stop corruption. None of these events were ever properly investigated.

On the other hand, the most notorious thieves are re-appointed, re-elected and praised. Its a dysfunctional culture.
