I also took pikshas in campus, did that mean I read a book? My pikshas are in a photo album but his are on githeri mendia...What a difference.

My hypothesis is that he hired teams (research assistants) to collect field data, others to analyse the data and finally some to write the thesis. PhD thesis sio mcheso. And am talking from experience.
