Sonko now operating on survival tactics, no tangible stuff done just PR and theatrics. Though this was obvious.

Then again how come this Charles Kerich is always appointed by Sonko to act whenever & wherever? He is literately competent all round, like wide array of skill areas? Time will tell.

You were played brother. The cartels wanted a bite at pumwani. The drama on monday was to clear the way for the cartels. The agakhan story was cooked up by sonko. He knows with people like you he doesn't have to worry about facts.

I have called Sonko a "Fala-wa-ku-come" many times but from todays Jeff Koinange Live show, i must say huyu jamaa ako fine as far as Kenyan Mwanachi interests are concerned. He has come out kinaga ubaga and told us where the pain in the ass is. He has named names. He has named some of the People who have shafted Nairobians for eons. People who have built ugly flats and made places like Kilimani and Lavington to be slums. People who have been adversely mentioned in Ndung'u report etc...Maximum respect Sonko. Endelea hivyo hivyo.Nairobi is shithole because of individuals Sonko has named today.

P.S. Sonko. You are allowed to perform those your annoying stunts like carrying a gun to Dusit 2 etc. Wewe ni shujaa and afterall, technically speaking, most Nairobians are mafala-wa-ku-come. God bless you

A Nairobi born-and-bred Governor(Kidero) had no balls to drain the swamp

What a nice way to run the capital

Quote:
City Hall, the seat of Nairobi’s county government, was Wednesday thrown into confusion after striking workers switched off electricity and refused to collect revenue as the employees’ go-slow entered its second week.

The power switch-off paralysed operations across City Hall Annex offices and other departments including the director of revenue and cash offices.

The capital has been losing tens of millions of shillings every day as the strike affected collections for parking, land rates and annual business permits.

I didn't even notice that kanjo workers are on strike. What services do they offer exactly? They offer such poor/zero services no one misses those services. Nairobi county collects 10b in revenue and spends 12b on salaries.

Sonko’s Sh96 million secret budget revealed

Details have emerged of an irregular multi-million shilling confidential budget that was secretly allocated to Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko.

The revelations arose during a County Assembly oversight committee sitting where it emerged that Mr Sonko has been enjoying a Sh96 million ‘confidential budget’ annually since he came into office in 2017.

Officers from the governor’s office could not explain the expenditure inside the ‘confidential budget’ when they appeared before City Hall’s Legal and Justice Committee.

Government units like State House, Foreign Affairs and the Interior ministry have secret accounts used for unbudgeted spending needed for state interest.

Auditor-General Edward Ouko says the secret multi-million-shilling accounts, especially the one under the Presidency, were surrounded by weak controls, including lack of documentation to support expenditure — making it difficult for the audit office to judge whether the spending was lawful and incurred for the intended purpose.

It was not clear if details of Mr Sonko’s secret account were revealed to the office of the Auditor-General.

Approval letters

Mr Dominic Odera – an administration officer in Mr Sonko’s office, failed to provide approval letters for the multi-million shilling secret budget.

But when contacted, Mr Sonko defended the confidential budget. “Having a confidential budget is normal. Running Nairobi is not a joke. There are so many things happening under my office,” said Sonko.

It was also revealed that Mr Sonko has been moving in a fleet of 12 cars against a requirement of only five cars.

Mr Odero said that the additional cars are from other sectors under the office of the governor including those allocated to the deputy governor.

City Hall has been running without a deputy governor since January 2018 when Polycarp Igathe resigned from the position.

“The governor, by law, is entitled to only five cars but some of the additional cars are drawn from other sectors. Since the governor is the overall authority, the officers cannot restrict him and we have to fuel all the 12 vehicles plus those that escort him,” said Mr Odera when pitching for a Sh180 million fuels budget.

Populism policies like lowering parking fees.

Quote:
Nairobi's revenue collection for 2018-19 financial year is expected to be the worst ever recorded in history.

County assembly Budget and Appropriations committee vice chairman Patrick Karani said revenue collection will be very low.

The county collected Sh3.7 billion in the first half (June to December).

In January, Sh1.7 billion was collected, Sh1 billion in February and last week, which marked the end of the third quarter, around Sh1.4 billion was collected.

"The total collected from last year June up to this March comes to 7.8 billion. You can see that this year we are going to underperform in terms of the budget," Karani said.

He said City Hall will not raise Sh10 billion like it did in the last financial year.
