Which means fibre will be nywee in the entire region once Ethiopia and SSD are connected. Ketraco will also have a decent income source without having to depend on treasury. Two new geothermal projects announced as in the pipeline JKIA to Kangemi expressway (and so much more) negotiated for in China as part of the $60B goodies allocated during FOCAC! Dustbowl is benefitting big from all these initiatives  Roads construction continues at rapid clip God bless Kenya!

Which is fine too. Doesn't make much of a difference to me. The important thing is that LTWP will finally come online and the power pools in the region can finally start to get integrated. Will be lovely to be able to buy cheap power from GERD once they are done. Or sell some overcapacity to Rwanda, Tanzania or even as far as Zambia once all our power pools are connected! And hopefully, on the local front, power blackouts will diminish drastically with time. As for cheaper power, please give us a breakdown of geo costs per unit verses wind, verses hydro, versus diesel, ceteris paribus and then revert.

Kenya signed a 30MW to supply rwanda but there is no transmisson line from olkaria to kisumu... COSTS The current Hydro plants from KenGen are the cheapest(because they have been armotized fully, there original PPAs expired and were refurbished for additional life) they go at 3 shillings, except those in Sangoro and Sonu Mirio(Recent projects)....other private Hydors like those under Feed in Tariff go for 12 shillings(though their capacity are small) Geothermal levelized tariff range between 7 to 8 shilings for new projects.... Lake turkana wind will be around 8 shillings other wind projects like KenGen are at 12 shilings. solar range between 9 and 12 shillings per kwh then Thermal go way upto 18 shillings...

Regardless, once the infrastructure is in place it would be a great asset IMHO to be able to export and import throughout the linked power pools so that every country can benefit from the least cost available. Asante! Last time I checked we still had some thermal input. So LTWP coming on tap at 8 bob is a huge savings compared to thermal that (hopefully) can dislodge thermal in the long run. All in all I think the government is doing all the RIGHT things to move our energy mix and power linkages forward and LWTP and the Llogiyani (i can never spell this thing right  ) line are part of that great leap forward. But whatever happened to the Kinangop Wind plant? Any hope of it being revived in our lifetime?

The financiers (Stanbic bank) repossesed the turbines ready for auction to recover their loans...however they have a tacit agreement with the GoK that the buyers of the turbines will put up a similar plant near the location. the Sponsors and the EPC contractors had taked the Government to ICC(International Chamber of Commerce London) seeking huge sums of money...but earlier this year, the government won the case.

The location, where there we so many small holders with tiny pieces of land was inherent with problems. Compare it with Kipeto Energy in Kajiado where land is massive and owned by a few and its becomes much easier to deal Our land ownership systems and dealing with public participation are a major hindrance to projects that are land dependent. I am Hoping this will not be another PR gimmick by UhuRuto Garment. Diaspora people have suffered enough. ....He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion..
