[quote=hardwood]Sonko has declared that all public toilets will be free. Good move. Peeing or $hitting is a basic human right and one must never be forced to pay to attend to a call of nature.

Okey - in some ways this is a good thing but I thought the charges are used to maintain them in good condition, provide TP and pay they guy manning the toilet. Weren't they in poor condition coz they had been under the city council which wasn't keeping up with them?

Quote:
Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has suspended four employees for allegedly misusing public funds.

Chief of staff Brian Mugo, acting chief finance officer Ekaya Alumasi and acting head of county treasury Stephen Mutua were suspended.

The governor forwarded their names to the Director of Criminal Investigations.

“There was an intelligence report showing they had misused county resources. Internal investigations have implicated them,” Communications director Elkana Jacob said.

Strategists say celebrating little successes gives one motivation to keep going, and builds your confidence.

On that note. I will celebrate the on-going clean up of Eastleigh

Her Excellency Ann Waiguru has a frenemy in the Kirinyaga Woman Representative, Honourable Purity Wangui Ngirici.

In the latest spat, Hon. Purity Wangui has inaugurated Ngirici and Sons Rescue Team moulded in the image of Sonko Rescue Team.

In this regard, it seems His Excellency Mike Sonko has, indeed, set a high bar for both Governors and aspiring Governors.

@mahegoat, you know you are our leading authority on matters Kirinyaga. There were fears that the women rep had a strong influence among the MCAs plus the fact that she is quite loaded. Did this come out during the executive vetting ? Did the MCAs frustrate the governor during the appointments ? Ama its just hot air ?

Other than yours truly being a leading authority on matters Kirinyaga, everything else above is true.

The County Assembly is divided evenly between Her Excellency and The Honorable Women Representative.

As a result, the vetting was remarkably contentious publicly but even more fiercely behind closed doors.

Reliable sources have it that one third of the Executive fall under The Honorable Women Representative's influence too.

The only reason that Her Excellency is well ahead of the curve is her brilliance when it comes to Bureaucracy and management.

This brilliance is pitted against The Honorable Women Representative's wealth that has connections to the Kanyotu billions.

Personally, I like this kind of "opposition". It means that Her Excellency must really perform. Otherwise come 2022, she will be kicked out shades of Kidero/Sonko.

In Kirinyaga, we live in interesting times.

This is a very good point and a perspective that Wanjiku should have of any political group.

When the hyenas are all friendly and quiet, you should know your goat is about to get chewed.

Indeed.

The "fun" continues.

Yesterday we, team Kutangatanga were in my home backyard. Karoti Girls High School is 500 metres from my "ancestral" home.

Some good money was collected,"mita twendi fae" as we locals are want to say.

However, the fun part was, well, let the image speak the one thousand words:

Have the Ngirici's cleared their names in the contaminated sugar scandal?

Poison Kenyans with their bad sugar, launder the proceeds via the Kenya Mpya jalopies and use the same to finally finish (kill) the poisoned.......

What a country!

About 4,000 buildings are earmarked for demolition in an operation to clear illegal structures from river banks in Nairobi.

The operation expected to take two months kicked off yesterday in Kileleshwa.

A Java coffee house within the Shell petrol station and perimeter walls of several residential apartments in the upmarket estate were pulled down.

Some of the apartments were discharging effluent into the river.

Several kiosks, billboards and a swimming pool were also cleared.

Nairobi Central Business District chief Julius Wanjau, who is in charge of the operation, said the owners of the buildings had been issued with three months and extra seven days notices to vacate.

The notices have expired.

"We are going to continue with demolitions until we reach the National Museum. Then we will move to Gikomba, Ruai and Nairobi West," Wanjau said.

In June, the parliamentary committee on environment and natural resources was alarmed by the extent of encroachment when it toured waterways.

It identified Limuru Road, Lang’ata Road, Arboretum Road, Spring Valley, Globe Cinema Round-About, Riverside Drive, Westlands, Parklands, Fuata Nyayo estate in South B, Village market, Gem Suites in Riverside and Alina Villas in Spring Valley as among the areas with developments sitting on river banks.

I look foward to the day they will demolish houses on Lower Kabete road near the entrance of Hill View Estate. I still remember one cold morning when the Late Prof Wangari Maathai was manhandled there for protesting their construction. They number of policemen who were sent to deal with her.....SMH.... you would have though she was Al Qeada

Brookside Drive in Westlands was a swamp on the right hand side between Lower Kabete Road, now there is a singh temple and multiple apartments/townhouses. A river flows below and floods the road every rainy season.

All have had large X sprayed on the walls umpteen times. Will they go?
