Once upon a time Centum had a plan for sole distributorship of some brand alcohol, was it realised or it died out?

I once overheard that Turborg, the ones in bottles with 'opener' at the top, is distributed by CK. So don't know whether it is solely him or through Centum.

Management outcomes are so out of whack with shareholder outcomes in this company, it's basically theft by management at the end. While shareholders are getting royally screwed, management continues to make huge bonuses.

Very unethical and criminal in my book to have this kind of a scenario.

It is distributed by King Beverages, which Centum owns 100%. King holds the Calsberg franchise for Kenya

General Electric reconsiders investment in Lamu coal plant
Misleading headline by The Star. Apparently some unnamed investors asked GE to reconsiders it's decision to invest in Amy.

Quote:
GE's investment would primarily be in the form of new steam turbines and boilers for the refurbished coal plant from China. China decommissioned over 100 coal power stations last year.

Also claims the plant will be a refurbished one. I wonder what the implications of that are

Just as we buy RECONDITIONED/REFURBISHED cars, there are many plants/factories/equipment that are available on the second-hand market.

A few years ago, I was given a tour of a shuttered power plant, designed to burn garbage (waste to energy), that was hardly used before it was shut down for political reasons.

It was an amazing sight with huge furnaces and turbines. I was told the turbines were the priciest components.

Anyway, the plant was being disassembled to be "exported" to another country.

I am OK with a "cheap" quality refurbished coal plant as long as the specs are met or exceeded. Some of the electronics, filters, etc would need replacement or upgrades.

If Centum can get a newish/upgraded coal plant at 50% then it could be a very profitable project.

@tandich

As an analogy.

A few years ago, when fuel prices were high, Delta purchased many old Boeing planes that were not as fuel efficient as the latest 737s, 787s, etc. They refurbished these planes and put them to use.

The savings from financing these old refurbished (vs new) planes was much lower than the cost of the extra fuel used and increased maintenance costs. When the travel market was soft, they could park the planes without incurring as much financing costs as parking a new plane.

Do you recall when KQ leased out their excess 787s (& 777?) at lower rates than what KQ was paying?
