Hi people , If you had 1.5M what good business would you venture into in Nairobi

What is the cost of starting a small supermarket in a nairobi estate?
What about a small petrol station?

@ newfarer small petrol station or fast food in town, you need more than 1.5 M. You will be lucky if that covers goodwill. About supermarket, that still needs more cash and a good relationship with suppliers who can advance you goods on credit or partial payment.

My two cents - Buy a plot or even two outside Nairobi in places likely to benefit from the road expansion. In a few months you might be able to double your money or at least get a substantial return.

Applause Good advice you've been given here! Again, it depends on how much risk can you handle?

As a young man, an older teacher I looked up to was teaching philosophy. And as he strolls round and round the class, from one row to the other, speaking as if from his soul.

His mind takes a detour, and I never forgot what he said that day...
"You can run any business, but you really only become very successful by looking for a níche; a unique need out there that you have the skills to serve."

So @newfarer you seem to suggest other me-too businesses to run. But you can look to what you love or have a passion for -not the money first- and then start small.

very true at what muganda wrote. Not money first. Provide a service or a product in the best way possible and the money will follow.
