The mercury and other metals could have been present in the soils where the sugarcane was grown in Brazil.

the 2.5B tax demand is for sugar imported by Darasa Investment and this particular consignment was brought in after the duty free holiday was over......or how would KRA demand duty for sugar that is/was supposed to be duty free?Sad

Ship with sugar yet to offload 10 months on

https://www.nation.co.ke...43520-xtvajw/index.html

Quote:
A ship carrying 40,000 tonnes of sugar is yet offload, 10 months after it docked at the Port of Mombasa.

The Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) said the ship docked in August last year.

KPA General Manager and harbour master Captain William Ruto said the ship was denied approval to offload the cargo. The details emerged following last week’s revelations that a ship bringing 10,000 tonnes of Morocco fertiliser to Mombasa fled to the high seas to avoid the cargo being tested before it was offloaded.

FMC, Cheminova and Syngenta said the products they sell are safe if used properly. A ban in one country doesn’t necessarily mean a pesticide should be prohibited everywhere, they argue, because each market has different needs based on its crops, pests, illnesses and climate.

So the people in developed world are humans, but the others are rats or guinea pigs!!!isolite.
...besides, the presence of a safe alone does not signify that there is money inside...

10 months demurrage costs will wipe out the trader....i just hope the KPA is clean on this or else trader wins court case forcing KPA to pay the costs + lost revenue.

When our mpigs in the house committes starts hagging and kissing the very people who are killing us instead of investigating them for possible criminal activities then we are doomed. The mpigs too become merchants of death...

Mpigs are now sleeping with the death sellers

In terms of the most corrupt individuals/institutions in this country, i will be shocked if our Parliaments ( Especially the lower house and it's many useless committees) have not overtaken Kenya Police.

Wah!, the 40,000 tones is eventually being shipped back to Brazil 15 months later... The losses here have probably burnt Darasa Investment to 'recognition'
