Went looking for sugar at carrefour yesterday and they only had Kabras sugar. Ile ya huyo muhindi. FYI the muhindi has confirmed that he doesnt crush any sugarcane but repackages brown sugar from brazil. The brown sugar that has been found all over the country. So you cant say that contaminated sugar is only sold in poor neighbourhoods.

Rai claimed he imported the sugar legally and has all the documents. He labelled his sugar not for sale because it required further processing and repackaging. Then Duale rushes to mudsling him...... It appears to me like its a war between Rai on one side and cartels selling killer sugar on the other. But looks can be deceiving......between Rai and Duale, whom would you believe? @hardwood,
WK has not produced more than 35K tonnes of sugar since inception and this can easily be tabulated from the amount of cane they have bought each year. This is unless the sucrose content of the cane they buy is at 22.7 percent which would be a first in the world. As an example, they purpote to have made 66K tonnes last year. A total falsehood. One other avenue which they have used over the years, with or without the knowledge of authorities, is ïmportation" of sugar from their other sugar plant in Uganda (Kinyara Sugar) and which they have re-packaged in Kenya and made a killing especially in the last 2/3 years.

That is exactly the question and when BonnyMtetezi and Sen Malala visit, they are taken to the factory where minimal crushing is going on. They end up tasting real Kenyan sugar. How i wish they would have gone to the godowns at Webuye and taken a bucket of that stuff to their relatives.......but knowing Rai, he can and will buy all politicians in this country.

Later, Aldai MP Cornelly Serem tabled documents, saying the papers showed how the sweetener was contaminated with heavy metals, including mercury and lead.
Some importers, he said, ferried the sweetener in open and dirty ships that had been used to transport fertiliser, coal and other poisonous materials He tabled documents showing how the imported sugar was mishandled in terms storage, packaging and transportation.
Mr Serem claimed the sweetener was transported in open trucks and dumped on the ground, just like sand, at a godown in Webuye, Bungoma County.
The godown is linked to a prominent businessman who is under investigationJust as absolute power corrupts leaders, so does absolute fanaticism blind the people from logic
