Of course Adan is right and knows what he is talking about. This is a fight between two sets of cartels inside jubilee, each trying to cut-off the other's cash-flow.

I was shocked to read that over 2000 bags were impounded in the morning and by afternoon the government chemist was already releasing a report alleging contamination. That level of efficiency has never been present in government.

Since you seem to be in the know, how long does it take to test a sample of sugar for heavy metal or any other contamination?

@njunge you've made me google to see how sugar is handled in kenyan factories. Shocking. Even though our kenyan produced sugar is NOT contaminated and is fit for human consumption.

@njunge,
There are very many snakes in sugar plantations which make part of the harvest thus increasing the protein content of you spoon of sugar

Matiangi Claiming the sugar contains mercury, maybe we should ask, "Are we being serious?" said in his tone

KEBS now says the sugar is full of lead. A very carcinogenic element. And copper. They say their results did not include mercury because they do not test for the mercury. That sugar is tested at the country of origin. This just means that we have been consuming poisonous sugar for years no wonder we have so many cancer cases. Those responsible for this mess both govt and importers should be hanged at kamiti.

KEBs confessing there is copper of 20.7mg/kg against acceptable limits of 2mg/Kg is one thing and so it does not matter whether the sugar has mercury or not. That copper level is already bad enough and so why didn't KEBs test and confirm before releasing the sugar to the market?? KEBS should be disbanded and people jailed for such a serious omission.Meanwhile.......below is the nerve AlphDoti doesn't want touched

What kind of idiotic reasoning is this? So the mercury isn't there because they do not test for it? And these are the people we have entrusted to ensure that what is marketed in the country is safe?

Quote:
Ongwae told the committee that their first sample report submitted to the DCI did not contain mercury because the standards they use borrow heavily from the Codex which does not require mercury test for sugars.
