Anyone know when the CMA is going to implement futures and forwards contracts?

The commodities exchange exists and publishes wholesale prices daily. Only thing missing to capitalise on the data available by hedging prices between two different areas e.g. Nakuru and Kisumu

I think the challenge is that the market is dominated by many small players. Despite prices being available it would be difficult to buy a tonne of cabbage. Even when you do get a few people who can meet your order they don't understand contracts or rather they don't abide to contracts.
I think that is the underlying challenge in why futures aren't working in Kenya.

Another hindrance is that some of the major commodities like wheat, maize, rice , sugar etc are controlled by barons and cartels who trade in the opaque market and shun the open market.
