No, I will not invest in KQ at 9/- today BUT I want to see KQ succeed so Kenya benefits and it can pay down loans to KE banks. Plus KQLC can sell off the shares! Read today's business daily I have been yapping about that for a while now... As things stand KQ would only be around for another 2 - 3 years... possunt quia posse videntur

KQ should now get into matatu terminus management considering that they failed in running a matatu business from JKIA to town If Obiero did it, Who Am I?

Quote:Troubled national carrier Kenya Airways could soon merge with the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) as part of a grand plan to deepen the airlineโs recovery and cement Nairobiโs status as a regional transport hub.
A policy paper seen by the Business Daily and which got the Cabinetโs approval on Tuesday, says the aim is to reposition KQ in a similar fashion as its main rivals, including Ethiopian Airlines and Emirates Group, which have relied on government backing to expand their reach.
The move also appears to be in reaction to the financial difficulties the carrier has continued to experience even after last yearโs completion of a major financial reengineering drive, causing concern that it may not be able to withstand competition in the very near future.
โShould matters remain in the current state, KQ, the biggest revenue driver for JKIA [Jomo Kenyatta International Airport], may collapse or significantly reduce operations within the next year and JKIA will downgrade and eventually be relegated to the status of a regional airport as no foreign carrier will develop JKIA for the benefit of Kenya,โ KQ and the KAA said in a proposal document to the Cabinet.

Full revenue tickets to be given priority given that the E190 are smaller especially during the high season. Mikosz is going to wipe out the loss at the end of this year with these initiatives.

It's not free and you only fly when the plane is has space if you are an employee you can ask the pilot to give you the jump seat... What's the point of flying a plane with empty seats yet you can get paying employees to fill that... Told you guys the other year revenue from the buddy system was like 120m... Now it's 0. @maka why would a KQ staff want to fly haphazardly rather than concentrate on his/her job.. plus stating that revenue would be zero isnโt true. incase the staff genuinely needs to fly, he/she would still pay up at market rate HF 30,000 ABP 3.49; KQ 414,100 ABP 7.92; MTN 23,800 ABP 6.45

@maka - Weren't buddy passes being given/sold to "buddies" so it wasn't just the employee BUT potential paying pax? How much did a buddy pass pax pay? If a buddy pax is only paying for taxes [which are given to GoK or other jurisdictions] then KQ has no advantage. Were buddy passes being misused? Greedy when others are fearful. Were buddy passes being misused? Loopholes leading to revenue leakage. It is even better for the plane to fly empty rather than these Ngunze's half baked ideas. This guy called Mikosz knows exactly the underlying issues affecting the financial performance of the Airline. I wish he continues on this role for 5+ years.

The JURY is out - I said it here. Quote:Kenya Airways is interested in the Bombardier CSeries or Embraerโs E2 jet for a short-haul order of 15-20 aircraft, with a decision possibly coming at the end of this year, its chief executive told Reuters on Monday. https://af.reuters.com/a.../kenyaNews/idAFL5N1T6038
