The two trains were loaded with 108 Maersk containers which were offloaded directly from the ship and loaded on the cargo train, in what has proved to be advantageous in terms of saving time and cost. The move is expected to improve the number of cargo being transported through the SGR that has been experiencing low volumes of containers after shipping. Clearing and forwarding agents have opposed the governmentโs directives to have cargo.

Ask the wazungus how much direct profits the old 1901 rail road made.

A lot will be said about the SGR, a lot was said about Thika road but I'm sure 20 years from now, the rail Uhuru builds from Mombasa to Kisumu will be praised as the single most effective and greatest development of the multiparty era. If he can eradicate corruption, builds a few roads here and there, those will be small wins too. But SGR is his primary legacy.

People should drop that kiosk mentality now. No profits are expected from the rail. The impact on the economy is what we should be discussing. Like how has it benefited the tourism sector? Aii yawa!!! that's why it is called a white elephant because you end up using your resources feeding it since it can't pay for itself. That company that has to pay higher taxes could have used those taxes more productively, perhaps employing your brother or sister rather than feed a white elephant.

SGR Levy collected since 2013 + SGR revenue is banked into an escrow account and used to pay SGR Loan. The shortfall will be paid with your taxes or 4th,5th,..,Nth eurobonds loans
