Post a link where a KenGen dam ever broke banks and killed people? Those are built with all safety measures in place lakini Patel ni nani? No....Kengen purposely lets out water from the dams to the Tana river and the gust of water goes killing and destroying property downstream, that does not sound like a natural phenomenon to me. Patel's dams have been there for 20+years those govt officials saying that they talked to him about the dams should show documentation verifying this. Infact the regional coordinator doesnt seem to believe them because he was never informed of the visits. Its time GOK starts firing these lazy bums earning salaries without working WARDA NEMA are useless offices. I can understand your anger @muchr; but the opening of dam spillways is done willy-nilly. They are only opened when they fill-up in order to release water in a controlled manner and with notice given to downstream residents. If KenGen doesn't open the spillways, the dam will overfolw and put the structure at risk of fracturing....which would lead to a major catastrophe. If Kiambere fractured the entire Garissa town would be washed to the Indian ocean! Everything! Nothing would be left standing in that town! There's a report that Masinga has started spilling. If people downstream havent moved, then another disaster is in waiting. Are Kenyans really prepared? "There are only two emotions in the market, hope & fear. The news report I heard last night was that Masinga has just one more metre remaining to reach full capacity. It is expected to open the spillway within 7 days if rivers continue flowing at current rate.

In other news, GOK will compensate Solai residents and rebuild roads and utilities that were destroyed by the water. Patel says all dams were approved and WARMA had inspected and issued certificates. When will we start holding civil servants culpable of their mistakes? "There are only two emotions in the market, hope & fear. I still dont see the reason why Patel is being charged but ...... let the courts settle this. So glad those busy bodies at WARMA and NEMA are being held accountable. Wait for the charge sheet. This is very good, people will start working and reduce on taking bribes. In the business world, everyone is paid in two coins - cash and experience. Take the experience first; the cash will come later - H Geneen

Let him set suspects free on all cases where there's "lack of commitment" by the DPP instead of cases lingering in court "There are only two emotions in the market, hope & fear. The DPP needs to be smart around prosecution. Rather than try to net 10 to 15 people, he should have his office focus on one or 2 individuals carrying most of the responsibility for this.
Go after the corporation and focus also should be on getting the victims a speedy compensation.

The government was very involved in this tragedy, there was no way they can take themselves out of the blame. So did they strike oil in Patel's farm?
