With the number of suicide on the rise, is euthanasia a consideration? Last year, it is said over 800,000 people committed suicide.

But that's not why I'm starting this but because of Australian, David Goodall. He is set to die tomorrow through euthanasia in Switzerland where it is legal. The man is 104 years and he says his life lost meaning in 1997. At 104, I think someone has earned the right to decide on their life, they are not teenagers.

Currently, the British parliament is discussing legalizing euthanasia. Sadly, it can be open to abuse like in Belgium where 6% of the deaths are through euthanasia. What are your thoughts?

BBI will solve it

With valid reasons, it is a great initiative. There are terminally ill patients going through immense physical pain with no hope of turn around. In such instances, it should be accepted.

Great care must however suffice to avoid its exploitation by people going through rough life patches. adolescent teenagers could abuse it, people going through divorce or in rough marriages, jobless people, etc.....

Goodall should write some memoirs to shed light on his feelings in the next few hours before lights go out on him.

I guess some things are done for publicity. A man has the strength to enter a plane and travel from Australia to Switzerland lakini ameshindwa kukunywa dawa ya munanda (cattle dip). A simple google search can also yield very many results showing ways of doing it yourself. There is no law that prevents anyone who genuinely wants to die from killing himself.

Dying is one of the least complicated things to do. You do not need a doctor or a clinic. In the hospital all you need to do is give the instructions "DO NOT RESUSCITATE" and when the time come you go in peace without making a fuss. Watu huwa wanawekelea madaktari kazi za ujinga.

He hasn't been a good student with his several suicide attempts

Quote:
In recent years, Dr Goodall's physical condition has continued to deteriorate along with his quality of life and, after several attempts to end his own life in the past 12 months, the 104-year-old decided to travel to Switzerland where voluntary assisted dying is legal.

There are no surprises left. A living man telling another, not to come for his funeral, denotes a man who knows when and how he'll go out. McCain has told Trump not to attend his funeral. Me thinks he'll also dictate how he goes out.

It is a sad day when life becomes more of pain than pleasure. That notwithstanding, it is He who gave you life that should have the ultimate say of when to snuff it out. We can't play God, even with our own lives!

All this is the vacuity of a world view of despair.

1. 'Because many people commit suicide, then it should be legalized and given a euphemism.'

Because morality has become a matter of polls, then human life too has become subject not just to the polls, but to the powers of the state.

Clearly, this is an abrogation of the bill of rights!

2. 'There's such an age when one loses the meaning of life'. Clearly this is another falsehood.

The meaning of life is lost when the forces acting upon us and the fields in which we engage are uninspiring.

Thus the problem here is one of the worlds we have created as much as the worldviews of the creators.

This clamor for the state's approval for death is the worst thing a free and responsible citizenship can do.

Watch these two stories, sometime life can be painful both for you and your family, there no known medical cure, death would be a relief to both you and your family but the government won't let you and normal suicide is of the books

@Kayhara, I understand some of what is being said in the videos and posts here.

Can you imagine that I've lived on the edge of killing myself for almost three decades?

But everyday I find healing.

I know that one of these coming days I may find myself against the state. And I've already started my death meditation.

But on that fateful day it will be the state that shall kill me. It shall be a day when the state shall commit a crime against me and itself.

In both videos that you've provided, we see of cases of depression and mental disorder being mentioned. From my experience this is to be expected, because our states have very oppressive mental health laws and ideas.

And the sad part is that we can hardly see that all this suicide and desire to die is a result of oppression from and by our states.

Pain is conquerable, but we live in a world that idolizes it.
