In 2010-11 (1 April to 31 March) KQ plans to open 9 new destinations.

Juba in S.Sudan - started. (6,000 passengers per month from NBO for all airlines)
Muscat in Oman - (LOL... the reason why we have kadhi courts!)

Lome in Togo (Ecobank is hq'd in Lome)
Luanda in Angola (Africa's fastest growing economy)
N’djamena in Chad (How do you pronounce N’djamena)
Beira in Mozambique (Interesting potential)
Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso (Huh? Why?)

Rome in Italy (Tourism. Check out Malindi)
Jeddah in Saudi Arabia (Biashara? Haj?)

2 E-170s have been delivered 4 June 2010. I think.
2 E-190s to be delivered during the year
2 737-300s to be delivered during the year

In the Summer, KQ also leases a MD-11 from KLM. I wonder what KQ will do about the old 767s whose leases expire in 2010.

@vvs 2009/2010 was their year and they messed up...IATA says the most booming markets in 2010-11 will be the far east,ME,South America then Africa...but the most worrying thing is have u seen the 14% drop in passengers no's to the far east...this should be their focus not flying around Africa with half empty planes...definitely they will find it difficult to stay in the black...in. 2010-11 its either a BUST or a BLAH...I'm a disguntled KQ shareholder...

Asante! I have no idea how it slipped my mind. I wonder if this is permanent or something to get football mad Omanis into S.Africa?

Anyway, I hope they can do decent business there especially with many people at the coast & zanzibar having family connections in Oman.

Well, seems (for now) the sell-off is over with...

I think 52/- will be the new sideways price until either:

1) Release of 1Q 2010-11 passenger numbers
2) Release of 1H 2010-11 financial numbers
3) The AGM where more operational+financial details may be discussed

Tourism/visitors to Kenya (Jan-May) better than 2007. I know there are many more airlines serving Nairobi/Kenya vs 2007 but at least a large portion come over/through Kenya using KQ.

I expect good passenger numbers for 1Q 2010-11 to be published in 2 weeks!

@VVS ryanair's Q2 results could be a signal for KQ... So as a shareholder you should check it out...

Ryanair operates in Europe...i dont think they had any plane flying to the world cup...meanwhile KQ flew to SA the whole month so the Ash thing is insignficant plus KQ hedged their fuel at $76 so i expect kidogo hedge gains...the 2010 Q1 numbers will set the tone for the year their out next week Friday...

RyanAir is 100% Europe oriented & has a completely different model (except flying passengers) from KQ. It is not a good comparison at all...
