In that case, My Dear, here is the next episode of the 2017-2022 Waiguru-WaNgirici Cat Fight.

Just this week, both the County Government ambulances and Ngirici Rescue Team were seen at the scene of a matatu crash along the Sagana-Kagio road, of course at different times.

Sadly, the discourse since then has been who came to the scene first instead of the gravity of the accident, what really happened, and the recovery of those injured.

And the people are not happy with this.

The reality is that there can only be one government at a time and if the Woman Representative is sincere in her desire to offer services that are similar to those offered by the county government, she should donate the resources she has to the government.

At the end of the day, there can only be one centre of power in any county or country, and in Kirinyaga, power rests with Governor Anne Waiguru – albeit for now!

Morning @mahegoat, what is happening in Makima ? What is the history of the land being claimed by both the Embu & Kirinyaga people.

I would not take the warning by Governor Waiguru lightly. And I think it is fool-hardy for anyone to dare the Mwea residents to a physical duel. It can get extremely ugly. Worse than Mt. Elgon.

The madhouse that is Sonko’s City Hall office

Quote:
Sonko’s typical day begins at 5am, or thereabouts, depending on how late he stayed up the previous night. When he arrives in the office, he is brought breakfast from a nearby hotel, his favourite sausage and eggs being part of the helping.

From 10 am, most of his meetings are punctuated with glasses of Cognac, his favourite brand. And, being a master of camouflage, next to the glass is always a package of apple juice. You can hardly tell he is in fact enjoying his whisky unless you’re an insider.

Occasionally, a number of Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) join in for a drink as the day wears on.

“What got me worried when I started working for him is the idea of drinking in the office. Yet interestingly, his confidence level increases and the tone changes once he has taken considerable amounts of the drink,” a senior officer said.

COMPLEX MAN

Multiple interviews with current and former City Hall staffers, some of whom started with him as Makadara lawmaker, revealed a complex personality that may appear easygoing with the masses but hard to please at work.

“When you take, say, 10 issues to him, by the time you are on the third item, he has lost concentration. He will begin checking his WhatsApp messages or log into Facebook for updates on things that are trending. And all his handlers know this. The moment you see that happen, you will be wasting your time if you continue talking to him,” an individual familiar with Sonko’s operations told the Sunday Nation.

“He has no regard for procedure, process or protocol. He does what he wants, when he wants, how he wants it and with whom he wants it,” another aide said.

“There was a day we were meant to meet an ambassador in town but, a few minutes to the agreed time, we suddenly saw him live on Facebook from Mukuru slums. It was chaos,” one of the handlers recalls.

One of Sonko’s ministers told the Sunday Nation in confidence that cabinet sittings are never without drama.

“In the middle of a serious discussion, he may remember that he was to send someone money, picks his phone and starts giving instructions to the person on the other end. You have to wait for him to finish,” said the CEC.

We really don't care about what happens in the meetings as long as services are delivered.. I would want to read about what plans they have in recovering the money stolen by the Kideros.

Just how did we get into this mess? In a city with the highest concentration of professionals in the country - doctors, bankers, engineers, lawyers etc etc. We are doomed. I should run for governor to save the city....

The strongest argument against democracy is a five minute talk with an average voter.

When supposed well educated and exposed Kenyans on this forum say an ex-convict suspected of drug dealing is a great choice for Nairobi governor, you know we have hit rock bottom.

Applause Applause That's the best way to deal with bureaucrats they will waste your time with non-issues and endless excuses. Sonko is actually very good in attending to issues raised on his fb page. He acts on issues even the ones we raise here on wazua.

So far Sonko is still doing well if that cognac helps him perform it's cool with me. The hawkers are out of the streets, the street pavements are being worked on, matatus are not blocking moi avenue and will be out of cbd soon. Sonko is generally doing well implementing the Nairob master plan to take transit hubs out of CBD.

Applause Applause kizungu mingi and catwalking the president does not want. perform

Quote:
Regeneration of Nairobi

As you know, the President met the team leading the regeneration of our nation's capital on Friday for an update on their work. This team has been meeting for months and the President is keen that they move from the boardroom meetings to actual deliverables. This is a joint team of the national and county governments and is co-chaired by Governor Mike Sonko and Tourism CS Najib Balala.

The team has set itself an ambitious delivery agenda covering 30 days, three months and six months. Much was discussed in the last few days on the 30-day agenda, so I will dwell more on what must happen within six months. And the beauty of these targets and timelines is that those asked to implement the projects and programmes have agreed to resign if these timelines are not met.

Nairobians want to see many things, but let me address just three.

First. Within one month, there should be no piles of garbage in any of the 85 electoral wards of the city of Nairobi. Also, a clean-up of Nairobi River would have commenced, environmental awareness campaigns will be underway, and programmes for regular garbage collection should be in place.

Second. Traffic can be a nightmare in the city and this team is doing something about that. Full car-free days for Westlands and the Central Business District, a traffic management committee, the Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) system should all be in place, as well as the automation of bus termini and improvement of non-motorised travel. The launch of the BRT will be preceded by the availability of 39 buses and infrastructure improvement on Langata, Mombasa, Jogoo and Juja roads, as well as Waiyaki Way.

Third. Health is a big issue and especially the lack of accident and emergency facilities in most parts of the city. This will take longer than a month to fix, but still significant progress is promised within six months. That progress will include the improvement of facilities available at Mbagathi and Mama Lucy hospitals in terms of their trauma care, as well as in order that they lessen the pressure on Kenyatta National Hospital so that it can do the work for which it is set up--which is referral care. The upgrade of Mutu-ini Hospital to Level Four status; and the upgrade of 10 other high-volume health centres has already been identified, and we should see progress in that as well within three months.

To other matters, one is housing. Already you have heard discussions around the set-up of the Kenya Mortgage Refinance Company to help with bonds for affordable housing. But what you will see that will tell you that affordable housing is taking root in Nairobi is the breaking of ground on Park Road for 2,000 units of affordable housing which should happen within the next three months as well as 5,000 houses in Shauri Moyo, 20,000 houses in Makongeni and 3,000 houses in Starehe. The team has a six-month deadline to ensure that the breaking of grounds happens, and the construction begins in ernest.

The governor also accused Starehe MP Maina Kamanda of engaging in secret plans to sabotage his work. He claimed he helped Kamanda by employing ousted Finance executive Danvas Makori who is allegedly his son-in-law.

Like I have told you on several occasions, my friend, things are elephant in my beloved Kirinyaga.

And I repeat again, one of the reasons Kirinyagans went for an "outsider" as Governor was so that she would come in sort the widespread mess ruining this Great County.

Please note (caveat) that my sentiments, comments, and observations on this particular matter are tainted by my contempt, and antipathy (hate maybe) for MzeroONe.

The solution for this particular issue was identified back in the mid-nineties. However, MzeroOne sat on the report due to the multi-party politics of the day.

Any blood split as a result I place squarely on his conscience.

PORK, being a project of MzeroOne, is bound to "ignore" this issue yet the solution lies somewhere in the vaults of sirkal.

In the meantime, have a look at this article penned by a locally born and brought up journalist who understands the situation. LINK

As long as Sonko delivers I say let him have his Konyagi. Kibaki was a drinker. Moi was not. Case closed

I also recall Kidero was sold to us as Mr clean, competent, honest, holy .... You name it, solution for Nairobi and see where he left us.

Governor Sonko's reply
Quote:
I have instructed my lawyers to seek legal redress.
The attacks start from the opening paragraph that says my day starts at 5am, depending on how late I stayed up the previous night. Waking up early to serve my people is something I cherish. It is astonishing that these malicious individuals are thoroughly blinded by malice to a point where they want to attack me using my strengths. I wish to state that it is not true that I refuse to see people who don't come to my office at 5AM; I receive Nairobi residents, dignitaries, leaders and guests throughout the day. Most days I am in the office until as late as 10PM, attending to Nairobians
The subsequent decision to sack one of my CECMs, Danvas Makori, was necessitated by information I obtained, and which he admitted to, that he was in constant communication with people associated with my predecessor who have been sponsoring negative publicity against me. In one of the text messages in his phone, Makori discussed with my predecessor's Personal Assistant about how they would withdraw Sh10 million every week from County coffers, what used to happen all the time during my predecessor's administration.
Here are a few facts Nairobi residents need to know: Revenue collection is highest under my administration than it has ever been in the past. Salaries of almost 15,000 county staff are paid on time every month compared to my predecessor's era whereby workers would go for five months without pay. Under my leadership, corruption is at its lowest. Last year Nairobi was ranked third most corrupt, this year we are nowhere near the top 30.
We have installed an oxygen plant at Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital which is supplying oxygen to many hospitals in Nairobi, a renal unit at Mbagathi Hospital giving life- saving services to kidney patients as well as expanded maternity services in Kayole and Baba Dogo. My office has procured 26 fire engines, we are constructing 5 markets and also in the process of constructing four stadia in the city. Piles of garbage that accumulated during my predecessor's reign have been moved to the proper dumping site, and the beautification of our city is in top gear.
This week, we shall launch the construction of two fire stations in Kangundo Road and Waithaka, and partner with the national government to upgrade the grounds around KICC into an ultra modern international convention centre.
Is this the result of a dysfunctional office led by an erratic, incapable Governor? Why should a story in a leading national newspaper focus on trivial things like the eggs and sausages I eat for breakfast and ignore life changing, transformational issues? You be the judge.
