Aaaaai!!! Not everything is about politics. They were there to talk about eradicating Malaria. Did you expect to see the Governor of Nyandarua county there. Malaria is in Kisumu. If next time UK visits Idaho USA and you see Nyong'o there hapo ndio tutajua ni siasa.

As it stands now for 2022 Ruto will sweep mlima Kenya,N/E and Rift valley .An absence of odinga and joho on the ballot means he may also take coast and nyanza.What victory margin are we looking at d'oh!

I wouldn't be as bold as you to try and predict Kenyan's voting pattern 5 years to come. Two weeks ago, if anyone told us the handshake would happen, we would have laughed him out of town. But here we are.

If you remove the tribe, Raila-mania and Raila-phobia from the elections, we are in "uncharted territory". The closest we have ever come to a similar situation is 2002. Don't be shocked to find the voters insisting on real issues i.e. corruption, good governance, constitutionalism, poverty eradication e.t.c. In which case WSR is toast.

Tracking handshake progress;
Issues arise - then accusations fly.
Quote:
A joint visit by President Uhuru Kenyatta and Nasa leader Raila Odinga to Kisumu initially planned for this week has been pushed back to allow for more time to address emerging issues threatening the nascent cooperation.

It is also emerging that allies of the opposition leader are beginning to question the ruling Jubilee Party’s commitment to his offer for dialogue after National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale ruled out electoral reforms and the restructuring of the country’s executive in the deal.
At the same time, a media briefing by Ambassador Martin Kimani and lawyer Paul Mwangi to outline the progress made so far was on Friday cancelled at the eleventh hour.
Mr Kimani and Mr Mwangi were mandated by President Kenyatta and Mr Odinga to develop the structure to help realise their shared objectives.

The unease in Mr Odinga’s camp, we established by talking to multiple members of his inner circle, stems from among other things the fact that long after he rallied his ODM party to ratify the new found alliance, Mr Kenyatta had not convened a Parliamentary Group meeting or party organs to whip his lieutenants into endorsing the deal.
They also point out President Kenyatta’s failure to convene a special sitting to align his Cabinet secretaries accordingly.

Admitting he had no instructions to execute on the famous handshake on the floor of the House, Mr Duale last week said issues of electoral injustice and changes to the constitution were not on the agenda of Mr Kenyatta and Mr Odinga.
“We want Jubilee and [the] President to be given an opportunity to implement the Big Four projects. The talks will not be about changes to the constitution,” he said

Analysts take the view that the pact will soon collapse.

So is RAO;
1. To get an office, staff and other facilitation right here to oversee and provide counsel to the handshake deal implementation secretariat
or
2. Is he to be sent to AU headquarters to temper his continued involvement in local politics?

Quote:
On March 9, long-time political foes President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition leader Raila Odinga shook hands on the steps of Harambee House, and promised to “soon” rollout a programme to achieve a more equitable, just, and prosperous Kenya.
Twenty-seven days later, not even the two men that were to oversee its establishment – lawyer Paul Mwangi from Mr Odinga’s side, and Ambassador Martin Kimani from the Government – have spoken about the deal, or their progress.
A press conference the duo had organised two weeks ago was cancelled at the last minute and, since then, speculation has been rife about the deal, its evolution, with a specific focus on the role Mr Odinga will play in it.

“It is almost one month since you issued the statement and neither the programme has been rolled out nor launched,” Mr Wako said in a letter to President Kenyatta and Mr Odinga, circulated by Mr Odinga’s ODM communications team.

“Raila is back-peddling. He was played. And we told him! This whole thing confirms that Raila expected too much from the so-called handshake,” Ford Kenya deputy party leader Boni Khalwale said of the handshake.
“We now want a structured cooperation, if we must have one at all … we are being taken for granted,” Mr Wycliffe Oparanya, who is the Kakamega Governor, said last week.

RAO now enjoying the fruits of handshake - Govt Vehicles complete with a Police chase car
Quote:
Opposition leader Raila Odinga travelled to South Africa for Winnie Mandela’s funeral as an official representative of the Kenyan government, his office has said.

On arrival, Mr Odinga was received by the Kenyan High Commissioner to South Africa Jean Kamau, and her team at the airport.

As journalists waited to be briefed on the matter, Mr Odinga pulled over at his Capitol Hill office with five brand new fuel-guzzling vehicles complete with a police chase car, announcing his new-found status
