Currently trading at P/E of 13.6,do you guys think it is a good buy!Especially now that they have reduced their lending rates to 14.25%,and that they have a new chairman,Fred Ojiambo.Should i buy or just drift my eyes elsewhere.

I owuld say buy. The new guys on the board are giving everybody hope that the company will improve and that hope will see the share price go up. Plus the deal with Liberty may streamline the business for the better. I would price CFC at around 110 - 115 so I still think that the price of 68 is a discount although it is the current resistance price. If the stock breaks through the 70 barrier next time you'll catch it at 80. So, BUY or HOLD

I am also likely to buy should I conclude some sales I am contemplating. I remember during the good old days, most banks PEs were around 20. Should this situation revert back, we are in for a big harvest.

Isnt the base rate still very, very high?

Do they charge extra on top of this?

I think stanbic is a gud buy now puttin in mind the next round of results is around tha corner. For saftey purposes its good to buy early.u never know some investors may be thinking ahead. I just think at todays price show the bulls and bears really fightin 2 control the price. The same situatiön is being played out at co-op bank. I know the bulls will win. Thats y i got in early.

Whereas reducing the base rate reduces the interest charged, the base rate alone cannot tell you which bank is cheaper! What you need to compare is the effective rate. These published in the "Money" magazine in the Daily Nation every Thursday.

Today; the lowest on personal loans is 18% [KCB, EQT, ECO, NBK, BOA]; the highest is 23.25% [CFC!!!]
Nothing is real unless it can be named; nothing has value unless it can be sold; money is worthless unless you spend it.

I think most banks dont release/provide the TRUE cost of borrowing...
